Will Second Life ever make a move to be able to use it on an IPad?

It works on the Nano-core iPad 11, with photonic encryption, and streaming Ions.

I'm not aware of a way to run SL on a iPad. atm

Not likely. An iPad is too wimpy to be able to handle the intense graphics that SL puts out. You can use a text-only viewer if you like, but you'll be coming in world blind, unable to see where you are or anyone around you.  Tablets just aren't made for this kind of use.
