King James Bible: Exodus 21

28 If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.

29 But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.

I read this as rewarding killer beasts of burden with recreational marijuana, while punishing their owners. This sounds like something Babe might have written in a fit of pique while
was away.

i been reading up a bit more about Mortimer Adler bc end up chatting about him in another post

after he convert to Catholic faith after nearly a whole life of not being one he said:

"My chief reason for choosing Christianity was because the mysteries were incomprehensible. What's the point of revelation if we could figure it out ourselves? If it were wholly comprehensible, then it would just be another philosophy."

he got that part right i think (:

Thank you for your sympathy.

One positive, is a renewed appreciation, for the ability to access knowledge.

It is my opinion, that the Original SL plan, was for water to surround the land. We (SL) were just waiting to get the money, and ability to afford the Server space. Lindens were Inworld in those days, and We were definitely under the impression we were building a Community. Close interaction between Lindens and Residents of ability, helped to provide a front line of knowledgeable Residents, who could provide surety of continuity to other Residents, in comments and in actions.

No one person is to blame for anything.

The problem is not isolated, and is not easy to solve, that is why it is not done.

I just think We (SL), should finish at least 1 thing, which was believed would be done.

The Shorelines along the MainLand(s), should not be future parking lots, for Regions reverted back to LL.

The LDPW is one the best things, SL has ever made. They work with what they are given. There is a chain of command, and it's also the chain that binds.

Keeping Our Options Open:

Maybe that's a problem. I don't think it sends a good message.

The ox which has been gored, is found in the distinction of having to provide clarification, of "the old shoreline".

can know what you mean about where coastline turn into void. linden had a bad habit of filling them in with sims for sale. almost like land greifers in that way. buy the view or get built out

also i agree with you that linden should publish roadmaps of whole continents. so that we can see what is intended. even if the sims not there yet

will add certainty for us when we thinking of buying

is not like they cant do this bc they somehow running out of room on the grid

Who's ox is gored?

The only person I've ever heard using this expression (prior to today, of course) was my high school history teacher.  He used it regularly as in "It depends whose ox is being gored."

*Looks at you a bit more closely*

I noticed that as well. My father frequently used that expression. I'm not at all sure, but I believe it can be found at least once in the King James version.

i can help myself so i just had to look it up (:

King James Bible: Exodus 21

28 If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.

29 But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.

30 If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.

31 Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.

32 If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.

33 And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein;

34 The owner of the pit shall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them; and the dead beast shall be his.

35 And if one man's ox hurt another's, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead ox also they shall divide.

36 Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.

so seems is not really good to be a goring ox

Or to be gored by one. ;)

Thanks for looking that up 16.  I had no idea it was a Biblical reference.
