How do I create a flag?

You mean, like a flag on a flagpole?

1. Rez a cube

2. Flatten it along the X (red) or Y (green) axis so that it's flag thickness.

3. Stretch it as necessary to make a flag shape.

4. Apply your flag texture to the front and back sides.

5. Click to the Features tab in your edit tool and

6. Click "Flexible".  You'll want to mess with the various settings to get your flag to wave like a real flag (or as real as you can make one in SL).  I recommend Gravity = 0.0 and  Wind 0.5, so the flag stands out from the pole and doesn't look like it's in a hurricane.
