newbie looking to get started as a stripper/escort

HI there! I just started my second life less than a week ago.. Im very interested in getting into the stripping/escort business. Ive went to apply at a few places but seems as though they are only accepting girls who have been around for a month or more. Are there any clubs that would give a newbie a shot and hire her?

  Also in the mean time while Im looking for an employer,is there anything I should pick to have ready when I am able to start,AO's,HUD's,etc?

For strippers/dancers clubs are ok (just make sure they don't cut off too much from your tips, 20% is too much!). It takes a while to find a good club which doesn't see you as their slave. The 30 days+ rule is for safety reasons, who wants to hire someone who could possible disapear within the first weeks? Also the clubs want to make sure their workers are familiar enough with SL and don't struggle on "easy" things.

For an escort, I would highly suggest you to do it freelance. I haven't seen one club which doesn't put it hands deep in your pockets to have a big part of your income. Also freelancing in this business works fine and keeps you independend from workshifts. You can work when you want, where you want and with who you want.

and don't expect to make much of any actual income, especially as a dancer. Most nights you'll be happy if your tips pay for the clothes you bought to match the evening's theme.

As an escort things may be (if you're a good one, with lots of experience and a great looking avatar with all the expensive sex huds, prim genitals, etc.) better, but the initial cost to get started is a lot higher so takes longer to offset that.

Depends. In the past, I had luck to find a club which only cut of 10% and paid the dancers for every event they worked.

Hmm...and escorts...well I guess its possible to earn some lindens and invest them again in the avatar and set your prices higher after that. Not all men need an already overequipped escort, most of the job is to create a good image in the clients brain and today it isn't that hard to get a nice avatar with little money.

I've been thinking of trying some kind of SL job like this myself. I haven't done it before either, but I have a lot of experience with roleplaying, so I figured it shouldn't be too difficult... Wondering though, any suggestions on the best ways to promote yourself if you start as a freelance escort? And does anyone know about how much escorts usually charge these days?

And hmm, as for dancing, most places I've seen take about 20% of the tips, so might be hard to find a good club that takes less. Could still be fun to try though.

Hi AdrianLynn,

You can get a nice ava for around 299L. There are reasonable complete avatars and some usually come with 4 to 6 looks and extras such as makeup layers, nails, etc. Of course what one person may think is an attractive look another may not, so be it. You need to feel comfortable with the way you look and how you feel in that look. Do a search in marketplace for complete avatars and then you can choose the price range, that is usually cheaper than buying your skin and shape separate. There are many beautiful hair designers too. Make sure you can edit or modify your shape as most of them come not so natural looking as far as proportions.

Do a search and join some groups "freelance escort groups" there you will find many that are like an idea and support group where other freelance escorts share their insight and places to find clients. If you are creative you can be successful and do not need to purchase all kinds of fancy emotes, huds and elaborate AO's. You will need realistic genitals as skins do not come with those.

Oh,I got the look's part down already! I spent the first few days of my second life just buying different skins and clothes and tweaking my look.. I didnt even want to wander into a public area without feeling 100% confident about my look. As far as joining freelance groups,I hadnt thought of that. I never worked as an escort - but I have seen the performance of a few that were hired by friends of mine. The biggest problem I saw was their lack of role play skills. One I saw sent away - with the money - because she was so horrible. People who pay for escorts do not want to just  jump on poseballs and watch their pixels hump away. They want the escort to set the scene with words - make it an enticing experience for the mind. That is what it is all about. If you do not want to go that route - I believe the escorts who use voice are in demand also. But here also - some talent for it is needed.

Learn how to role play - how to use the written word to make it interesting for your customers - then you will never have in issue making money.

And the look of your avatar? It is important! My experience though - men will react mostly to an individual look, a look that looks most like a real woman - and not the stick thin barbie dolls. I want to coment on that point where you basicla created the image "real women = bbw girl avatar". First, an individual look doesn't mean more fat on the hips. I agree, that an individual and unique look helps to get the right attention, but that doesn't mean getting chubby = getting individual. Its basicly about not looking like the typical SL Marketplace picture model, but getting something from your own creativity and a good taste into the avatar.

Second, a real women doesn't indicate to carry a lot of extra weight. I looked at your profile picture to get an idea about what your bbw avatar might look like....and I have to say, when I look into the mirror im nothing from that. I have no modellike shape, but I also don't fall into the other corner and carry weight I shouldn't have. Also I guess what gets you a lot attention are your big breasts. I mean...most women I see are far far away from that size in real life.

So...my point is, that chubby and bbw doesn't automatical make an avatar attractive, realistic or better than any other shape. Like in the real world, there are many different body types and everyone of these can be part of a unique, great ad individual avatar, as long as its owner has taste, creativity and avoids to just wear one popular style.

 

(Oh....and big boobs might get you attention...my avatars don't have such, so its just what comes to my mind)

I do not think it is the boobs alone. My experience in sl is that men in general prefer a bit of a chubbier shape over the ones that have the body fat slider at zero and the boobs pretty much maxed out.

An individual shape could be anything. It could be a shorter chubbier women with small breast. It could be a big breasted woman with short legs. It could be an athletic woman with long legs. It could be anything.....what I see is mostly the same shape......body fat at zero, big firm boobs, tiny waist, long legs, long hair.

But again - the avatar is just one thing - and actually a minor thing in the big scheme of things. I think people like me because I am easy going, low drama, and I can write an good enjoyable role play scene. In the end - that is what it is all about - to have some fun in sl, right?

I am not bashing on anything. I said that so many avatars have the same look - and seeing the same look in almost every female avatar is boring. That is not bashing anything, that is my opinion.

I think it is important to point out that role play is the most important part in being a good escort. This is after all a thread where a new player asked for advice on being an escort. Many new players do not know that actually playing out scenes - using words to describe what is happening - is part of it. I met quite a few new players who thought just poseball humping was it - that is what escorts did.

So my advise to any new player who wants to be an escort is to learn how to role play - learn the basics - and then start with a low rate if you are still pretty inexperienced.

As the first male to post a reply.... Start with a nice profile picture. Fill out your profile, make picks of your likes, dislikes, things you are willing / unwilling to do, several different pictures as well. Use it to promote yourself.

Secondly, you are only a couple of weeks away from the 30 day mark. Spend it exploring. Find quiet, secluded out of the way places to take your customers. make sure its ok to have sex there (ie make sure its adult land and the land owner is ok with it)

VERY IMPORTANT to know how to Role Play!! Conversation as well as sexual descriptions.

Make a FULL profile. Not just "Hey, I'm an escort, come see me.." Guys will more likely come see you if you have something more to offer them than sex. You can get sex almost anywhere in SL and most times you don't even have to pay for it.

You want to make the client feel welcome...wanted...this way, they'll be excited to see you and play some more.

I might also suggest that you find out the going rate for escorting. I don't know what it is, but if you're too high or too low, you may not get as many clients.

I Accept young Avatars a lot of places refuse but everyone needs a Chance if no ones hires you you can't get experience. My tip % is pretty low but like I read earlier tips are not that good for newer people,but feel free to contact me if not for a job then just to make a new friend. My club does have a few poles I let freelancers use if you chose to go that direction aswell.
