Darren Scorpio
Ok I am bored so let's see what comes of this. Here is the challenge: Pick anyone of the starter avatars and make it less newbie. You are NOT allowed to change the shape, the eyes, nor the skin, everything else you can change. Post your before and after pics here, no Photoshoping allowed but you can use any windlight settings and other viewer features to take your pics. The best transformation here will win. Here is mine. Before After. Used: hair from *Drot*, Ears from :GAUGED:, top from SEY, Pants from A:S:S, shoes from CS Design, Glasses from PrimOptic. Ok I was a little lazy on the picture taking but let's see what everyone else comes up with.
BLUExANGEL
You changed the shape and the skin, excellent improvement by the way, why can't we change it? There's no way to improve a starter avatar without changing the shape and skin.
Darren Scorpio
I didn't change the skin nor the shape.

Day Alderson
Great work, Darren! It's amazing what a difference especially the hair and the glasses make.
Darren Scorpio
They are noob skins, they aren't meant to look great
Darren Scorpio
Thanks! I bet other people can come up with better, we'll see if anyone else posts on this thing.
Bree Giffen
Here's mine! Ugh. The girl next door has unremovable black underwear so most dresses look funny with her bra sticking out. You can't notice it here because I used a black dress. I really don't like her face that much.
Darren Scorpio
Bree wow! Great transformation. Amazing what hair and better clothes can do. 2 imaginary kudos for you.

KlistiesSeMio Ewinaga
I tried to tackle both the 'Gamer' people. I think the girl was far more successful considering the guy had his hair stuck to his skull. D: --
Darren Scorpio
Wow! the girl looks good. Would never know it is a starter avatar.
Kelli May
I chose to work on the Female Explorer avatar. While she's not entirely a write-off in looks to start with, I think I helped. A little dramatic make-up worked wonders on the eyes, and I went with a long mesh hairstyle. The clothes in the original av are on the skin, so I covered up with a nautical suit. You can't see in the photo, but I replaced the chunky boots with some simple pumps.
Kelli May
I liked the idea of this, so I had another try. This time, the demure Steampunk girl. Lots of fun with this one... More punk, less steam. Again, you have to cover all the baked on underwear, so options are a bit limited. Crazy 80s hair, crazier make-up and piercings... I don't think the original approves. Darren Scorpio
Wow also another great transformation. Great job!
Darren Scorpio
OMG this one looks awesome. I don't think I saw this avatar when I was scrilling through the options. It's nice to see that starter avatars aren't as bad as we think, with a little help on clothing and hair they look great.

Having the ability to add make-up now is a huge boon, as it can really pick up a drab skin. Although it doesn't show in the photos, a decent AO makes all the difference too. Melita Magic
You say to make the starter avatar 'less newbie.' Do the makeover items have to be freebies? Do they have to be new?
Darren Scorpio
Items can be freebies, or new, or stuff you already own in your inventory. In my case I used stuff I already had. You can use any objects as long as you don't change the skin, the eyes nor the shape.
valerie Inshan
This is a brilliant idea Darren! Great thread. Lol, I had forgotten what's being a noob feel like, thanks to you, I've just spent an awsome moment! :smileyhappy: Here's the basic noob: female rocker. This is not bad at all. Back in the old times when I started, newbies certainly didn't look that way!. And here's the (little bit less) newbie after some shopping. (Hair from A&A, dress from Vassnia. Shoes come from the library. The modesty underwear shows under the dress!

Darren Scorpio
Good job Valerie. Yeah the modesty underwear the skins come with make it very limiting to what you can wear. EDIT: Haha yeah I noticed there is a lot more avatars to pick from. Even the non human ones look kind of nice. Would be cool to see if anyone dresses up one of the furry avatars
