When you register for Second Life, you provide your birth date, because you are required to be at least 16 years old. If you are 13-15 years old, you may be allowed if you are restricted to the estate of a sponsoring organization. For more information, see Teens in Second Life.

To access adult content, you must be at least 18 years old.

I will add to the other answers:  DO NOT lie about your age!  You WILL be found out sooner or later.  When you are found out, your account will be deleted...and your computer will be banned from SL, which means your parents are going to find out what you did.  Also, SL can be hazardous for younger people...morally, emotionally, and legally.

If you're under 18, stick to the General areas.  If you're under 16, only use SL through a sponsoring organization and with adult supervision.  If you're under 13, stay away until you're older.

There are other virtual worlds that are a lot safer for young people.  Enjoy them until you're mature enough to use SL.
