Post, display or transmit any material, object or text that encourages, represents, or facilitates sexual violence and abuse against women.

Let's start the debate.

theres lotsuv sick **bleep** that goes on in sl .. the very nature of a virtual world attracts pervs of all sorts .. they can geta way w/ doing stuff theyd be scared to do or physically couldnt do in rl .. maybe this is a good thing in that it allows them to rp their sick fantasies w/out actually hurting anyone .. maybe its a bad thing in that it gets them all worked up to go out in2 rl & act out the stuff they do in sl .. i dont know .. its a topic for research

i think that the sexual ageplay that IS banned is hypocritical .. cant do that w/ a virtual child but CAN do it w/ a virtual woman or werecat or somethin .. seems like a double standard to me .. but LL only responds to what the law is in this regard .. its not like they really care what goes on so long as they dont get in trouble in gerrmany or somewhere .. & actually such things DO go on in private sims where anyone who would file a TOS violation is banned

basically .. i think that whatever you find objectionable is your own business .. live & let live .. if you dont like something dont do it & dont go to sims where it goes on .. just mind your own business

I thought the purpose of Zindra was partially for this type of content.

they are doing it in chicago as well..or something like it..and baby formula..

well there is no reason for 6 month old children to be obese..

fructose is what they are going after..

so much salt is added to sodas that they use so much fructose to hide the salt..which really ends up being nothing more than drinking salt that will just keep making you thirstly..

a can of soda does about the same thing to the body as a can of beer does...

mainly because of the fructose in it..

that's also in baby formula..

that's probably why they are going after baby formula..

fructose is nothing but poison to the body..

it will be interesting to see if they do ban it or not from hospitals..

This is the right answer Jeanne.

What we have here are people making an agreement to participate in certain activities which are objectionable to some onlookers.

The onlookers are not part of the agreement.

Too funny, Jeanne...and sad.  Maybe you were there too early and the activities hadn't fired up yet...lol.  Seriously though, from my understanding of all the topics surrounding  Zindra when it was first created - its purpose was to gather all the shops, rp venues, strip clubs, escort services, etc. that exceeded M rated land and/or constituted violent content and other material mentioned by the OP.  This was also during the same time frame that LL closed down the teen grid and opened SL to kids...16+, iirc.  Thus the two were supposed to be complimentary moves that kept certain "content" within SL while making Zindra A rated and inaccessible to those underage. (In theory - as we all know a certain percentage of underage kids have always roamed the grid.)

How well that worked out is anyone's guess.  I think I landed in Zindra once during a hunt or something and only knew I was in Zindra by looking at the info at the top of my screen.

Not debating how bad fructose is for a person, just that this whole issue begins eroding freedom of choice and that's not a road I wish to go down.

oh i understand..and really i'm not debating it either..

people are going to get that from just about every food product they eat..

it's even in bread..

i just think it is going to get interesting when they start up these bans..

i mean it's not really going to even  help the issue or get close to solving the problem..

to me it just sounds like some political hand washing more than actually trying to solve anything..

if they want to get something actually done..they need to start making people aware  of the dangers of it  rather than taking some things away..

it's just something to make those places look like they give a crap without actually having to give a crap.. hehehe

Can't believe all the fuss over this soft drinks/pop/soda, they are all disgusting and sooo unhealthy.

There's nothing better than an ice cold plain sparkling mineral water or a freeeeezing Lime & Lemon cordial :) (on the weak side of strength).

How did we get on to the topic of soft drinks?

*looks up @ thread title..  ^^ :smileyindifferent:

o rite... figures.

(Emphasis mine)

Exactly!  Kind of like...prohibition.  How did that work out for them (the politicians).  Speakeasies flourished.

I hearby propose the following addition(s) to the ToS:

The following instances should result in a ban, followed by the confiscation of one's PC and the removal of their ability to access the Internet in general

  • Failure to tell the difference between real violence (of any kind) and a fantasy world
  • Failure to understand that one can simply teleport out of a parcel or sim wherein one finds content which they object to
  • Failure to tell when one has been pushing their agenda concering violence against a single gender (which is in itself sexist) quite a bit too far.

Starting to see a patern?

Don't like that sort of content - don't go to those sims. Can't control yourself/think it's your duty to combat it? Cancel your account.

I'm sure it's pointless to even talk about this any more, but I just can't help myself. *Grabs some popcorn* As distasteful as it may be to most people,  some women and men play out rape fantasies in RL. As long as they are consenting adults, there is nothing illegal about such activity, no matter how offsensive/vile, despicable you may find it to be. Consent is the operable word here. Second Life rape/violent roleplay cannot occur against anyone's will. If one of the parties involved in those activities decides at any point not to engage, all they have to do is mute the person, tp home, log off. More to the point, it's legal between two consenting adults in RL, so LL isn't really going to touch that subject.

Clearly, any sort of sexual activity with a minor is not, nor will ever be deemed as consensual. It's also illegal.
It also got  SL negative media attention before Linden Labs banned ageplay altogether.

So maybe if enough politicians got together espousing the evils of women being beaten and raped (nevermind the fact the women are fully consenting to have these things done to them) in Second Life, then maybe SL will ban it.

Or not, who cares. I'm just here for the shoes and clothes. And hair.

heres the thing tho Tracy .. the person behind the child avatar is almost certainly a consenting adult too .. and at the same time you dont know but what the "consenting adult" behind the adult avatar isnt a minor who has lied about his or her age .. so you have consenting adults having their activities limited while you may have children getting away with things they shouldnt be doing .. plus sexual ageplay goes on in private sims .. the only way LL finds out about it is if someone reports it .. so where it does go on the "land owners" simply set up yellow ban lines & get away with violating the ToS and breaking the law

This reminds me of a few incidents I have read about in the news the past few years.

In some cultures, "kidnapping the Bride" and holding her for ransom was an accepted part of the Wedding Day.  Everyone went along with it.

There have been some incidents where a bystander witnessed the kidnapping and called the police.

While it may be not as tame as other forms of "Role Play,"  it does go on in RL.

I think Extremely Noble is entitled to his belief that Sl is SL, and RL is RL. So yes, us as SL residents should deal with it... I chose to deal with Nobles beliefs by kicking his ass to the curb! Anyone who has fantasies of this type of behavior in RL or SL... Should seek help immediately. There is nothing normal about this behavior. The men and women who like this behavior, or fantasize, or are just curious need therapy.
