Sixx Yangtz
LL should (if they're not already and I'm just totally out of the loop, cause that very well could be lol) ...should have once a year Awards for "Best in....." to bring different SL residents together, even if its just once a year, sort of like the Grammy's or the Olympics or however they want to display it. There are so many communities that have no clue what the others are doing (or probably even care) but I think it would be cool to have a celebration of residents who have achieved, excelled in the various things offered. i.e. best in builds, best in land, best in blogging, best in RP .... these are just general and could even get broken down further. I think it would introduce new things to others and promote SL business, blogging, etc... Thoughts?
Darren Scorpio
Yes this would be very cool. Slim chance LL would do something like this though. It is easier for a resident with the resources to do something of the sort. It would be good for their traffic.
Dilbert Dilweg
You know that really sounds like a cool idea.. There is little recognition for some who have helped change the course of Sl for the better. A lot of wonderful contributors in the community. There would be one huge party that is for sure.. The only downside is the cost and coordination of something like that. Maybe coordinated by the community and overseen by The Lab. HEHHEHE. and of course there will be the fallout of "Favoritism Scandal Theorists"
Darren Scorpio
But...but without scandals things aren't as fun.
Darren Scorpio
Let the residents nominate the people/places for each category, then people can vote on one of the nominees.
Maryanne Solo
It couldnt possibly work unless the Lindens ran the whole thing. There was intended to be a kind of qwalyphying process in place via the Kudos system and look how it turned out. It is an excellent idea though. Marigold Devin
When they offer me my award, I will surely send an alt in as a proxy to collect it. I'd be just to shy and modest to get up on the stage and receive it myself. I'm against the idea. That's my only thought. Edited to add: It would alienate more people than it would impress, it would, as Dilbert points out, cause certain negative issues (even these little photo contests that LL run on these forums have a large element of bitching and cheating going on). Tateru Nino
The Lab did it (just the once, as I recall) some years back. Then never did it again - It might have been because of all the fuss and hassle and criticism.

Was a big fiasco, with accusations of favoritism, etc.

Shockwave Yareach
And it may have been that the winner was someone close to the labs, reinforcing the notion that some people in SL are favored by LL and get discounts/benefits/freebies that the rest of us do not. Attica Bekkers
Virtual ability was first linden prize winner. I think maybe its just too difficult to pick winners:)
