Question

Hi, I lost a expensive picture frame with priceless photos., 3 yrs worth, it failed to rezz and its not in my inventory and hubby lost a dvd player with 12-15 movies in at. Mine failed to rezz at home..yet its not in inventory. His was rezzed in a messed up box at a sandbox. Both are gone..Any ideas or is this happened to others??

Well I got mine back after relogging. Problem is his stuff. He had got it sent back from a rental, went to sandbox to unpack the messed up boxes. Box rezzed but could not find anything. Nothing was sent back from sandbox and everything is now gone. He has tried clearing cache and relogging. Still no go.

Thank you both....he contacted Video place and they are replacing all....Thanks :)

Often all that's wrong is that your locally cached copy of inventory is out of sync with LL's asset servers.  The way to cure that is to go to Preferences >> Internet & Cache and click the Clear Cache button and then log out.  Log back in at a nice quiet sim like Smith or Pooley and move away from the landing area so nobody lands on your head.  Then open your inventory and type any letter at all in the search field to jump start a rebuild of your cached inventory.  Go make a sandwich.  It may take a while and you shouldn't do anything in SL until it finishes fetching the entire inventory.  Most of the time, that clears up the problem, so you should find you missing stuff again.  If not, see here for other suggestions >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Lost_inventory

Alexis,

If Rolig's excellent suggestion does not work for your hubby, please note that most DVD sellers offer free replacement DVD players for their systems. The licensing information about what movies have been paid for is kept in their database associated under the purchasing avatar's name and UUID - and as such, any new player will be able to re-register and obtain the play list again.

Also, he needs to look in his Lost & Found for a coalesced object - This icon is unmistakable - it look like a group of boxes stacked on each other and it will have a name that either makes sense or be total nonsense. The group return function when running on automatic will name that object after the last prim selected during the group select. Simply rez that object somewhere the same size of larger than the original parcel you were on. Why? All the objects will rez in their approximate positions as when they were grouped together by the return function. In the worst case, this can be anywhere in a virtual cube 64m on a side.
