Shoot target script

Hello everyone, I've been looking for a script that makes an prim shoot out another prim when a target comes close to it. I've created an enemy NPC that already aims at a nearby person but it does not shoot. can someone show me where i can getr a script like this? and possibly if you know of any other good free scripts that will help me improve my npc. (like a follow script that does not make the object fly in the air)

You might want to take a look at this set of scripts from the old, old Scripting Library http://forums-archive.secondlife.com/54/60/292230/1.html

It's not exactly what you're making, and nowadays you'd probably want to combine all those separate scripts into one, but it certainly demonstrates the techniques you need, I think.
