I'm only able to access SL through my smart phone and I've lost access to my messengers and social networking. Mark, Kelly, or Nathan... if any of you see this, please reply.

Log in to https://my.secondlife.com/ and add firstname.lastname (just firstname for Residents) after the slash (or you can click through to your friends profiles via the People tab, on the left). You can send private messages from there.

Or, as Qwalyphi said, post to their or your own feed.

You might want to try Pocket Metaverse if you have an Apple product.  I have it on my iPod Touch, and it works.  It does not have a graphical interface, so you have no 3D world view with it, but you can do most things other than see and walk around.
