Easiest way is to use the Windows Snipping Tool. It's in the Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories. Draw a rectangle around the Friends List window and save the pic to your hard disk, then upload it to SL if you want.

Alternatively, if you want to use SL Snapshot, just tick the box to show the UI in the snapshot, take the pic and save.

Assuming you are talking about snapshots in world with the viewer. When you take the snapshot, and when the window opens. Look at the advanced option to enable interface. This will allow you to take snapshots of interface windows within your viewer. Chat boxes. Group boxes. List boxes. Friends list etc etc

If using an older viewer. Click on the "More" button when you get the snapshot window open, and that will show you more options to allow the interface in the snap

After you enable the interface. Refresh the snapshot

If you are using Windows, the standard way of taking a screenshot is to push the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard (it's located between the "Insert" and "Pause/Break" button on the standard 101 key keyboard.......mine is directly above the "Home" key on my keyboard.  Then you just paste it to some image editor, save to whatever image format you want to save it to and you have a full resolution picture of everything on your monitor at the time you pushed the "Print Screen" button.

No hunting around for advanced options in you viewer.  It also works for anything you want to save that is on your monitor.
