Stuck on initializating VFS screen (and tried all the fixes)

So I've been running SL for years and I've never encountered this problem. I boot it up today and it gets stuck on "Initializing VFS" with a white screen, which then becomes frozen and I have to hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete and all that good stuff to get rid of it.

I've been looking around for similar problems and I found a few forum posts and tickets. They always say to do clean installs, delete everything in the appdata folders, restart before you even start up SL again for another try. I've done everything they've said, but it still isn't working.

Again, after clean installs, deleting the appdata folders and restarting, I am still having the same problem. This is getting really infuriating, as the bug is always fixed after that.

Oh, and yes, I do use Firestorm. I have the same problem with that, did the same steps. Nothing's working.

I have Windows 7 64 bit, Intel Core i7 and SLI Nvidia 460 SE's (Not sure if that helps, but I don't know what will at this point)

ANY suggestions would be so greatly appreciated, thank you.

The restart router is good

Other things to try:  See if there is anything new in the path between your computer and the wireless anntenna.  Has either one been moved? Did you turn your computer so that the wireless signal has to go through the computer.  Any new furniture been put there?  Anything on the wall? Mirror?  If at all possible, see if you can test with a wired connection.  Or see if you can change (preferably shorten) the signal path.

Go to the Nvidea site and see if your graphic driver is up to date. (Never trust windows up date to update your drivers.)

Tried all that, but now I'm back from the whole router escapade.

When I plugged it back in the internet went down for a while (like a few hours). It's back up and...

(starting up Firestorm now)...

now I have the login screen! Good gods, I hope this doesn't happen again. That was both infuriating and tedious... well, I can't always sneak into his room like that. Next time he might find me. Thanks for the suggestions (even the sneaking around ones-- I'll have to try cookies, he seems to like those)!
