Question

My computer does not have SSE2 support and i am going nuts. I have tried all the other TPV but none work. I haven't been able to play for about two months now. And i don't have the money for a new computer. Is there anyway to download one of the first SL viewers? :matte-motes-stress:

"SSE2, Streaming SIMD Extensions 2, is one of the Intel SIMD (Single Instruction, Multiple Data) processor supplementary instruction sets first introduced by Intel with the initial version of the Pentium 4 in 2001. It extends the earlier SSE instruction set, and is intended to fully supplant MMX. Intel extended SSE2 to create SSE3 in 2004. SSE2 added 144 new instructions to SSE, which has 70 instructions. Rival chip-maker AMD added support for SSE2 with the introduction of their Opteron and Athlon 64 ranges of AMD64 64-bit CPUs in 2003."

Take a look at the dates.  SSE2 first came out about 11 years ago.  It's time to get a new computer.

There is an ancient version of Phoenix 1185 that was made for non-SSE2 computers.  It doesn't support mesh or most of the other new features introduced during the past two years, but it is still available (Windows only).

Windows (Standard):

As Peggy says, SSE2 was introduced over a decade ago, and has been standard on all computers manufactured since about 2004.  If you have a machine that old, you're likely to have more problems with SL than just SSE2.  It's time to spring for a new computer.
