It's not clear which screen you mean, but if you aren't getting any error messages at all, it's not crashing.  It's disconnecting.  It's extremely difficult to do much more than guess why, since you didn't tell us anything at all about your computer, its operating system, its Internet connection, or which viewer you are trying to run.  Assuming that your computer is even powerful enough to run SL at all, one of the first things to check would be your firewall and your antivirus routine.  Either of those programs could view your viewer as a threat and block access.  See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Using-Second-Life-with-a-firewall/ta-p/1304539 to learn how to confgure a firewall for Second life, and then take a look at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/antivirus_whitelisting to see how to keep your antivirus program from blocking the viewer.

If neither of those solves the problem, it won't be a great surprise, but you might get lucky.  If you have more information to add that might help us make a more specific recommendation, click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
