I wont rez. I can't wear anything. Not even my skin, shape or eyes. I am just ruthed. What can I do? I have baked myself til I'm crisp, cleared all sorts of cache and still I look ruthed. I joined yesterday and asked inworld and tried all they said. Can anyone else help me? I have moobs!

Yep, sounds like something's wrong.  Sounds, more particularly, like a problem with your internet connection.  Tell us your ping and packet-loss figures from the statistics window or pingtest.net.  The rest of your computer specifications, especially graphics card, would help too.

That's a communication problem between your computer and SL's servers. Information about your appearance has to be "baked" onto your avatar on your own computer, saved there, and then uploaded to SL before it's fully visible there. If the necessary information is messed up in transmission, you may end up with a borked file on your computer, or SL's servers may end up with a borked image. Either way, your av's appearance defaults to a fluffy cloud or has other wierd appearance issues. What works to repair the damage for one person won't necessarily work for the next person, and it may not be the same thing that works for you tomorrow. Sometimes a simple rebake (CTRL + Alt + R ) works, but often it takes more than that. See the full list of possibilities here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail . Start with the simple things at the top of the list and work down until you find what works for you today.

You may find that the bake fail problem comes back repeatedly, even after you fix it with one of the suggestions on that wiki page. If so, you have a chronically weak Internet connection. There are many steps to take for repairing it. Perhaps the simplest ones -- ones that work best for most people -- are: (1) Don't Use WIRELESS. Wireless connections are inherently less stable than direct cable connections and are more vulnerable to interference. Then, (2) Reboot your router. Unplug it from the power for a few minutes to let it clear its RAM. Then plug it back in and let it get a fresh hold on an IP address.

my ping is 24ms my jitter is 6ms and my packet loss is 0%. As for my the specs on my laptop, its a gaming laptop and the graphics card was 9000 and something. Sorry, i'm a bit dumb when it comes the tech side of it. I just push the buttons.

Details about your specs would be useful. If you ride a blicycle and expect it to act as a race mototbike, you are certainly in trouble. Follow Rolig's and Peter's advices. Or be a pedestrian.

Darn. The simple bake fail issues (+90% of the ones we hear about) are transient things that are little more than annoyances. In this case, it looks like the bake fail is a symptom of something deeper. My bet is still on a connection issue.

I don't have much to add, except that "ruthed", in the strict sense, refers to an older version of SL, when failure to download avatar textures resulted in your being given the default female avatar, Ruth, instead of your own.  These days, when you look like a cloud or an egg, we call it "bake fail."

I prefer that term, because I think associating Ruth's name with an amorphous cloud both does her a disservice and is confusing to newcomers.
