I'm having a difficult time distinguishing whether eyebrows are classified under "skins" or "shapes". I've seen many skins I love this past week but I don't know if skins actually include the eyebrows as shown in the pictures. And then I also saw a "shape" that was noted that it included the eyebrows. So which one is it? Do the shapes themselves make up the facial features? And are they changeable?

Skins for the most part come with the eyebrows drawn on, like in the photos. Shapes will affect how the skin looks. Then there are brow shapers that can make your eyebrows shape different.

So, the skin has the eyebrows drawn on them, which is affected in appearance by the shape they are put on which can further be shaped by brow shapers.

There are also tattoo layer eyebrows which can go over the skin's eyebrows to change color and or affect shape.

Most shapes come with an eyebrow shaper from my experience.

Mixing and matching various of those elements can help achieve a more custom look. Also, some hairs come with eyebrow shapers also.

Brow shapers can also be called bald bases.

You can also modify your eyebrow shape, but you have to look under Hair for it, as it's not actually part of your shape.

Yes, that is the bald base or brow shaper that is included with shapes and hairs. To make your own, you would go to Appearance, new body part, new hair. The new hair will replace your current bald base/brow shaper as you can only wear one at a time.

You could also edit the one you have on if it is editable, by right clicking on it and choosing edit.

Great tip!

Good question!

It's both now.

In a shape: The eyebrow is actually the 'hair' piece. It contains a transparent texture to erase your hair (the system hair that came with the ancient old avatar, Ruth.) But its more important function is to shape the eye orbit.

This is actually more important than many realize. With the wrong eyebrow placement or eye orbit shape, your face can look completely different, and not at all like you'd want it to. This can even change when  you change skins. You can have a sudden, surprised look, or you can have a very bored blah look in your eyes. If you are lucky the skin is a lot like the one the shaper used when they made the brow shaper/hair piece for the shape, and so the brows won't change place that noticeably. That makes many people assume that all brow shapers are alike and there is no importance to it.

But if you use the wrong one, you can make a child shape look matronly, a pleasant face look pinched and so on. Experiment with different ones and you will see.  :)

Now with attachment points you can also buy eyebrows that are different colors or thickness etc., to go on the surface skin.

But if you got a shape and it said 'comes with eyebrows' it means the brow shaper.
