Hi

I'm trying to get a SL viewer up and running on a Mac Mini (Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz × 2) running a Ubuntu partition.  I've tried Phoenix and Firestorm so far and when I log in I get some sort of rendering artefacts on the screen (same is true if I log into OpenSim), see image below:

Any idea what this might be?  SL runs fine when I boot the computer in the OSX partition.

Thanks in advance.

That was my guess too but it's a new mac mini with NVIDIA GeForce 320m with 256mb of Vram and the installed Ubuntu is specifically for mac so there must be something to set or a driver to install?

edit: ahh Ive sorted this now, apparently the latest drivers for NVIDIA arent officially supported on Ubuntu but they do work.

  • 2 weeks later...

I worry about heat if I see artifacts. I think the heat related ones are more colorful though! I have seen these before! Months later, the card died...sad...it had bad ventilation and a poor tiny heat sink. Not to fast of a card, but heat is a big issue and non official drivers...you never know, they might over heat it! But, that is not colorful enough I don't think.
