Why are there 9 actual, explicit sexual photographs listed on 'animations' at marketplace in SL???

I thought this was all "second life".... fantasy... be who you dream to be.   Since March I thought I had found the perfect 'second life'. 

However, during my shopping spree... The store I came across had listed photographs of real people in sex acts!!!!!.... under the guise of selling that particular 'act' as animation for (L$900 and up)

Those photos belong on a porn site NOT on SL!!  Those photos show people not avatars!! 

This particular person has been a member since Mar 22 2009 , so then...if this is okay with the Linden World and its communities then it must be made known to the general public that Second Life is also promoting the selling of realistic pornographic photos. 

Then all of marketplace will have photographs of real vaginas and penises, real houses, real people!  REAL LIFE!!!

Where I thought I had found something unique in 'second life'..... I am now just feeling very disappointed... almost to the point of closing my account.

Porn is not prohibited, it is just restricted to Adult.  If you set your search maturity settings to General, Moderate, you won't be able to see this kind of stuff. To change your settings, clear your browser's cache and relog. Desactive Adult: choose General and Moderate only.

Why not? If you don't want to see such things, set your maturity filter to Generel and Moderate or even General only.

This is the internet and most residents are adult....so what do you expect? Only by driving down a road in Zindra (adult continent) you can easily see many places which contain real photos.

Did you really think no one will use anything from real life? A lot animations are made with real life models and you also can find other pictures of the real world (not just porn).

But I don't understand why you are so upset because of it. If you don't want it, don't search for it, don't look at it. There is still a lot stuff that has nothing to do with porn or the real world. Just keep in mind here are real people behind the avatar and they do what all real people do and enjoy and porn is one thing of that.

Second Life is all about being who you dream to be, and you have found the perfect Second Life.  You have just unfortunately stumbled into someone else's version of a perfect Second Life, and who they dream to be.

There is mixed opinion, as you will discover over time, about how much real life should be present in Second Life. 

Leaving all the perfection that you personally have discovered in your own Second Life so far should not be destroyed by what you've found on Marketplace.  Nor will leaving Second Life make it disappear.  Sadly you can't unsee what has already been seen, but you can move on, and follow valerie's advice to change your filters, removing the 'Adult' one, to prevent this happening in the future.

You are not wrong to have your own set of moral values, or opinion about what should and shouldn't be in Second Life, but neither are those who live out their own particular adult fantasies.

Hope this has not ruined Second Life for you. We are all adults here and many don't find these images that intrusive. As others have suggested, clear your cache and uncheck Adult in your viewer. That should stop you from seeing adult items in Marketplace, however, you can be doubly sure by choosing General & Moderate on the drop down box in Market place, it will block Adult items from being shown

if you don't like seeing RL porn images you won't like the porn porn videos being piped in to SL via tv's and media devices there's nothing wrong uploading porn in to SL LL haven't banned it infact they created the adult continent zindra where adult themed commercial activities take place and sexually explicit imagary can be freely shown in public places. if you don't like RL images/videos of porn simply set your marketplace and viewer preferences to general (PG) and moderate (mature)

Hi and thank YOU too as well as everyone else. I have been set straight by all ... including by my own offspring. Can't take back my flippin rant....Most answers were kindly stated ... Guess I really stood out as a newbie. I really am not a prude either and I do enjoy sex... obviously searching for erotic animations....(my first time search for that) Just got a little shoooocked by coming across picture of real people after hours of scanning page after page of 'cartooning'. Friggin popped my cartoon world bubble.!!
