0 Rolig Loon
One doesn't. One puts the movie on a streaming server and then puts its URL into a parcel media viewer. See here to find out how it's done >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Parcel-media/ta-p/700097 You'll want to watch Torley's videos -- a bit outdated now, but still basically correct and highly informative.
0 Lindal Kidd
If it's not copyrighted, the easiest way is to upload it to YouTube, then put that URL into a Second Life television. If it's copyrighted material...fuggedaboutit!
0 Chic Aeon
You can record video in SL by using video capture software such as FRAPS (a free version with watermark is available for download). Be sure that you are complying with the Second Life Machinima policy : http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Snapshot_and_machinima_policy From there you can upload to YouTube and either use parcel stream or the webpage on a prim feature (Viewer 2 or newer) to view the video you want to see. You do NOT actually upload a movie to Second Life .
