Does SL Viewer work on Windows Professional 64 Bit?

Hello,

While the latest official Second Life viewer installs on Windows 7 Profession 64 bit, I am experiencing the following problem. I cannot get video streaming on a prim surface to work. I am just getting the 'frame cannot be loaded' message. I have tried the traditional remedies, reinstalling Flash plugin, clearing cash, running the viewer as admin, running the client in compatibility mode ... but nothing worked. I also recall many of my friends who upgraded their laptops like did, having similar problems. Please let me know how I can get video streaming to work again.

To answer your question, yest it does.  Has for years.  See this post:

I have been using that OS in Sl for about 2 years, as have many others.   And, yest, I do use video on prim -- it works fine.  The viewer, being 32 bit  is normally loaded in compatibility mode.  Have your updated your drivers?  That is a common problem.  

For more help, you probably need to tell about your video card.

Here are my specs

Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit Service Pack 1

Gfx card: Nvidia Quadro 1000 M 

Intel Core i7-2760 QM CPU 2.4 GHz

RAM: 8.00 GB

Everything renders fine .... 124 FPS without shadows, 24 FPS with every graphics setting maxed out

I have friends who also bought a recent laptop from HP ... and they are having similar issues ...., video streaming on a prim does not work, for e.g. the youtube site can be accessed .... but where you are supposed to see a video you have the usual links to install flash which of course when clicked leads to the 'frame cannot be loaded' .

Any help deeply appreciated.

When I had that problem, I had to install flash for Other Browsers, as described here:

yes the solution you proposed works. I installed Flash 64 bit manually.

This is what I posted on another list just a few mins back

Found a solution. It appears that the Flash Player that Adobe installs
is a 32 bit player ... that can run well in Chrome, IE etc... even if
they are on a 64 bit OS. But if you manually install the 64 bit
version I obtained here ...

Oh good, glad it helped. Every once in a while I have to do that, I don't know if it is due to updates or what. I have that bookmarked for when I need it. Hint.
