IMs from objects in V3

This question arises from a conversation we're having over in the General Discussion forum.

As far as I remember, in V2 if you got an instant message from an object, it appeared in your normal chat history, in a different colour, and you could click on the name of the sending object to see details of the owner and a slurl for the object.

In V3, you just seem to get a simple notification pop-up, with no obvious way of seeing anything about the object that's IMing you.   If you're offline and the IM goes to email, you get the details -- who the object belongs to, and where it is.   Is there a way of seeing this information in the viewer, though, that I've missed?

ETA -- Aha!  This seems only to happen if you name the sending prim, "Second Life" (which I had done, in an attempt to discover how a message had been sent).   If you name it "Test Prim" it works fine.

Hmm. It's not in Niran's or Catznip that I can see. I will check this with the official viewer tomorrow. Thanks.

Interesting.  It's there in Firestorm, so I assumed it must be in V3 as well, Innula.  If that's deliberate, it's an odd omission.

Ah.. Exodus was released about 4 months ago, as I recall, so it's based on rather older code than are Niran's and Catznip, I've just tried it with Second Life 3.3.1 (252229) Mar 28 2012 07:39:41 (Second Life Beta Viewer) and I cannot see the message in local chat anywhere.

It would be interesting to know how Exodus handles the test script I post there if you rename the object to "Second Life".

Wait! What? Are you saying that message from a script in a prims called "Second life" will only show up as a pop up message titled 'Message from Second Life" (possibly with only an OK button)?

That could explain what I thought was a phishing attempt the other day...

The one you saw probably WAS a phishing attempt, Luc. It's been around in SL since last weekend. If the behavior that Innula is describing is verified, it might explain why the phishing scam has been so convincing.

Ah, Thanks Rolig. I thought it seemed a bit fishy. It really is not good if it's this easy to create something that appears to be an official, grid wide message.
