Calling All Bloggers!

Are you a passionate Second Life resident who loves to write about your Second Life experience and are looking for exposure for your own existing blog? Looking for a way to connect with other bloggers and open your door to new Second Life community readers?  If so, you might want to submit an original blog post (no links please) to us and it could end up being featured in the Second Life Community blogs.

As the movers, shakers, and experts on everything Second Life, we’d like to invite you to submit your original blog articles to us at blog-call@lindenlab.com with the Subject Line: Guest Blog Submission.  Selected submissions will be posted to the Blog section of the Community as a featured guest post!

Here are some popular Second Life topics to consider: Fashion, Home Decor, Mesh, Relationships, Spirituality, Education and Music.

GUIDELINES

If you would like to submit a guest post for the Second Life Blog, please consider these guidelines. Only submissions that meet these criteria will be considered for publishing.

  • All selected posts must adhere to our Community Participation Guidelines.
  • All selected posts should support the inclusiveness of the Second Life community.
  • Selected posts must not include marketing-related links and must not be entirely self-promotional.
  • The post may include links to your website and blog in a brief author’s bio (approximately 3 sentences), which will be published at the end of the guest post.
  • Please limit the number of images included in your submission to 4 or less.
  • We reserve the right to review and edit. We regularly edit posts by our contributors and guest bloggers.
  • Guest posts must be original and may not have been published elsewhere online already.

The blog call is on!  Read the guidelines, then submit your posts to blog-call@lindenlab.com

I gave this proposal consideration as a place to crosspost articles I write about Second Life, until I reached your 'right to edit' and statement that this must be original content. This puts the proposal in an entirely different light.  If you wish to share your credentials as an editor with me, I'd consider writing for you.  My usual rate per article would apply, of course.

As a very small blogging fish in a very big blogging pond, I might have been tempted to submit a post. But reading through what exactly would be in it for me?

As far as I can see..no editorial control on the final article..original content that couldn't be posted to my own blog..a brief bio that may or may not generate new readers..no mention of just how often these guest posts would be published (once a week? once a month? once in a blue moon?)..no mention on the chances of anything I write even being accepted (on the roll of the dice, on the spin of the bottle, on Rodvik picking a name out of a hat?)..and no mention of any financial gain in Lindens for my time and effort.

Sorry guys, at the moment there is just not enough to tempt me. I'll pass.

Surely the contributions were approved long before this blog post soliciting them.

Bets now being taken on whether the first post will be the one about finding true love with the aid of a vampire HUD, or the one enumerating benefits of breedables in senior homes.

I am! I used to write columns regularly for the Metaverse Messenger, have my own SL blog (though I've been a bit lax lately, to be honest), and all that.

So... what's your pay scale? 'cuz while I may be passionate, it would seem kinda foolish to work for free. Especially in this economy. I mean, when Hamlet blogged for ya, I'm sure he got paid.
