You all may have seen that, in preparation for the new Community Platform, Forums, Blogs and Answers will be in read-only mode starting Feb. 21, at 12:01 am PDT. During this time period, communication out for any urgent Marketplace updates will be occurring on my user page on the wiki, and tweeted from the @slmerchants twitter account.

Please continuet to use the following communication channels for communication to us about Marketplace:

  • JIRA: for defects and feature requests
  • Customer Service: for help with refunds, maturity and flagging  questions/issues, other Marketplace issues that may not be defects

Thank you for your patience while we work to improve our communication tools!

Brooke

I'm sure we will survive the period of hardship known as the frozen days.

Hey since you seem to be still communicating, will we be getting credit in the new system for our past participation or is it going to be a hard reset and the GD clique take control with the Lithium system's rewards system and drive the rest of us away permanently?

Does this mean that the much vaunted but  rarely used 'Merchants Home' page is now officially redundant space? In  earlier marketplace days this lovely piece of white space was used to communicate Marketplace updates and tweeks rather than forcing folks to follow tweets.

Interesting stuff, sounds like some great stuff coming for the SL community.

Looking forward to seeing the new platform, I always felt this current set up was a little awkward.

Ann does have a good point, will heavy community contributors who've helped loads of people get some status or credit in the new system for their helpful efforts to date?

It would be a bit of a shame for these people if it is a wipe everything & start over situation.

What kind of status or credit?  Does this mean compulsive posters like me will get accused of posting for some glory? (And for the record status / credits/ glory means nothing to me unless I can cash it out.)

I don't think a high post count can be used to determined someone's value on these forums. In Ann's case I think her 4000 + posts is a good indication of her contribution to these forums, it amazes me that she has that many posts yet everything she posts is either relevant, informative, helpful or blunt and to the point with very little waffle, pointless posts or wasted effort. But looking at some of the posters who mainly hang out in GA forum, some have higher post counts than Ann, yet most of that is generated through bickering, trolling or posting pictures of annoying cats doing annoying things.

I think people should be recognized for the hundreds of hours they have spent here helping and informing the community but I cant really think of a fair way to do it.

It makes sense for the Answers forums I guess. But still don't know what the point of credits would be.

I thought the benefit would be obvious.....it will make Proks life a lot easier when she compiles her FIC list every year.

Hey those stars are made of gold right?

We just need an exchange to convert jive-icon-sprites-med.png into USD.

That will get people really motivated to help

I'm wondering too what this new credit system could entail...

If I can't eat it or spend it, I am not interested.

This is a good point. Considering that some forum users have been helping people for years, investing their time and effort in providing solutions to problems in an effort to compensate for the for the failings of the official support system. I think these 'heroes' of the forums should be recognized, honored and most importantly rewarded for all their hard work. They should be given free premium accounts, free tier allocation, free advertising space, free Lindex trading plus Rodvik's personal telephone number so they can call him up any time of night or day? They should be set apart from the 'little people' and put on a pedestal so they can be admired and worshiped.

In Pamela's case she should be given free edible bank notes so she can either eat or spend her reward.
