Embark on a Quest in Linden Realms: Collect Crystals, Earn Linden Dollars and Have a Blast!

Linden Lab

We're excited to introduce Linden Realms, where Residents can dive directly into exploring the towers, caves and valleys of the Lab's first-ever game prototype. Dodge rock monsters and fierce fireballs as you cross deadly, toxic rivers to complete quests and cash in your crystals for Linden Dollars. And that's just the beginning...

Quests take you through the basics of game-play in Second Life while you earn Linden Dollars. You’ll start at Basecamp on Tyrah’s Island, where you’ll have your pick of exciting destinations to choose from!

  • Sunspire — Investigate a tower of experiments in teleportation and astronomy.
  • Shattered Cavern — Go deep into an intricate system of caves that snake down under a small mountain.
  • Devil's Canyon — Brave a  dangerous valley of fire and rock monsters, where the courageous are rewarded.
  • Whisper Hollow — Hike through a forest full of secrets and obstacles.
  • Banshee Peak — Soar above it all at the northernmost point of the island and admire the view of Whisper Hollow.
  • Tyrah's Peak — Scale the snowy peak overlooking the center of the island and the Basecamp.
  • Dark Moon Bay — Explore this southernmost point of the island, where Tyrah wrecked her ship and hopes to eventually escape.

Our teams dove deep into the inworld creation process during development, and are eager to share some improved tools that came out of this effort. Residents will soon be able to use those tools to create even richer original experiences in Second Life.

If Lindens are going to continue with Realms they need to level the playing field. To many people are using speed huds and dash/fly huds. It give them an  unfair edge.

I believe while it may be cute, this should be a game for the residents to build, and get rid of the facebook stuff and going to the web for profiles.  LL, people have been asking for years now to fix the lag and crashing (no I do not mean blame the users but not having so many sims on a server), and might be nice if just once when any server is messed with it doesn't create problems for everyone.

This is precisely why I decided to stop creating content in SL. First it was land with extra prims and prefab homes for people to purchase premium accounts.. What were you thinking competing with the consumer base you cater to? This is just another version of linden created content in a supposedly user created world in an effort to generate revenue by stepping on content creators toes…

After going there I decided what a waist of money and time spent by LL. Trying to compete with their clients?  Might be ok for grade school kids, a separate game. Truly wish the time and money would go to new servers, if that is what is wrong, or better qualified techs that do not mess up things EVERY time they touch a server. Please LL, spend more on the tech end of SL, and less on the fluff we do not need?  This kind of reminds me of having Market Place, LL getting their piece of the client pie.

If this was supposed to be a test bed for new tools for residents, why is it six months later and these new tools have not yet appeared?

I think the Linden realms was a good idea initially. The problem is there hasn't been much followup. Large areas are broken no matter which portal you access. Some have been broken from the onset and never repaired.

The other part which never had any followup was the use of scripted speed enhancers which the rules of the game state are illegal to use in the realms. Theres been no enforcement so you end up with a comparitively small number of people making it useless for anyone else to play so the end result is residents being yet more frustrated with Linden Labs.

In a game such as this one there needs to be at least a little attention given after the grand opening fanfare. Even if once a week for a few hours a Linden would randomly roam the realms, addressing those cheating.. perhaps banning for a few days, I think the word would get out and it could be considered a successful project.

Linden Labs has never shown any evidence of being able to follow through on things much less complicated than a change in course of platform concept. They can't even get regression testing right on the grid itself, and their enforcement of ToS is selective, at best, throughout. I do not expect anything more from them - they have one of the poorest quality assurance records of any service provider with whom I've been compelled to deal, which is part of the reason why I divested my land holdings this week. No more tier payments from me until I see a change in behavior.

How do you play the game Please can someone tell me.  I have not been able to get any help or information.  I spent over an hour at the sim and could find no notecard or information or anyone that would help,  I just read that theres a HUD but I could not find where to pick it up.

Thank you

I this FAQ do it say that "griefing/camping/cheating" shall be reported according to the guidelines in Second Life, but all cheaters in LR do say it is okay to cheat for it is a script activated zone, so shall all users cheat in LR to get a chance or shall Linden Labs create rules that say that script giving users an unfair advantage in LR may be seen as cheating? I will even go so far to sat that "speed scripts" and "super speed bot scripts" is the same as griefing in LR for it do destroy for other users and also go against the idea of self running after the crystals. Can not LL just say what "bot scripts" shall bi filed under when users do file an abuse report, I know some that file it under "Fraud $" for they think it is not right that users do use bots scripts to collect crystals do just to get money from LL and not to enjoy the fun of LR, other do file it as "Unfair use of regions resources" for they think that crystals are a resource that all users shall has same chance to fairly collect. Just now LR work so badly and is often use by cheaters that destroys the idea of LR, so I think LL shall close them and replace them with better ones that use pathfinding and has HUDs that kicks folk that during longer time and to often go over normal running speed.
