Support the Japan Earthquake & Pacific Tsunami Relief with Linden Dollars

Our thoughts today are with all of those who are suffering in the devastation caused by the earthquakes in Japan and the tsunami in the Pacific. We encourage all Second Life Residents to support the relief efforts however they can, and we would like to help.

We have created two special Linden Bears--one that is wearable and one that sits--which are now for sale in the Marketplace at several pricing levels: L$300, L$1,000 and L$3,000. Here’s the direct link to purchase them. We will donate all proceeds from sales of this bear to the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief efforts of the American Red Cross.

Please help us to support the relief efforts - buy the bears, and help spread the word in Second Life.

Additionally, we know that independent groups in Second Life are also planning to support relief efforts. For example, Radar Magazine in Second Life will be holding a month-long event and are seeking designers to donate virtual items (see this article for details). If your group is planning an inworld relief effort, then please share it in the comments here.

Thank you,

Kim

UPDATE -- April 14, 2011: Thank you to everyone who contributed to this campaign! In total, this doation drive raised more than L$8.3 million.

The special-edition Linden bears are no longer for sale, but you can of course contribute directly to the charity of your choice and participate in the numerous efforts to support Japan in Second Life organized by fellow Residents. (If your group is planning an inworld relief effort, then please do share it with us in the comments here.)

This is a great way to use technology to help our friends in Japan.  It is such a devastating situation.  We need to do everything we can to help.  Skip a cup of coffee and buy 3 bears.

G58 Baron, Special Japan Fund Raising Release - All Sales go to Linden Teddy Bears and American Red Cross.

Just as I was finishing up the G58 Baron, and finishing final paint job, news came from Japan and the heartbreaking crisis.  Working around my day job the best I could, I quickly began working on a new livery for a special fundraiser aircraft; giving it priority over normal release.  This is the FIRST RELEASE of the Beechcraft G58 Baron, and probably the first one in Second Life.  It has been painted in the official livery of the Japanese Coast Guard.  It has my most advanced scripting including a brand new HUD with analog instruments and is the same as aircraft I normally charge 4000 L, but this aircraft has been reduced to only $1000 in hopes of getting maximum sales to support the relief effort.  All sales will be converted to purchase of Linden Teddy Bears, these funds will then go to American Red Cross http://secondlife.lithium.com/t5/Featured-News/Support-the-Japan-Earthquake-amp-Pacific-Tsunami-Relief-with/ba-p/743743  .  Thank you for your support of Drusilla Saunders Aeronautics and thank you for your support in the recent Japanese Crisis.

After contributing online to the Redcross I was pleased to see Linden Lab of  Second Life providing an inworld opportunity for us to contribute as well through the sale of LL Teddy Bears for Japan.  All donations for bears will go to the Redcross.   We are all looking for as many ways as possible to help our Japanese neighbors in their dignified struggle for recovery.  Thank you Linden Lab.

Due to Friday's 9.0-magnitude earthquake, tsunami, and subsequent after shocks, Japan is suffering from what its prime minister is calling the "worst crisis since WWII." The country's northern coast has been totally devastated, leaving the land and the people in ruins. Just like you, we here at LivingSocial want to lend a hand, so we are going to match your donations. For each $5 donation through this offer, we will also donate $5 to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund, for a total contribution of up to $2 million. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy, and hope that by merging our efforts with yours and working directly with the American Red Cross, we can help with immediate aid and long-term recovery plans in Japan.

This was a great idea on LL part as well as everyone else who supports this and have done something inworld or out for the people of Japan.   Pacidlux Estates home of the USS Aviator-A a UFS starship held an event on Saturday 19th which generated a large sum to be donated to the Red Cross for their relief of Japan. In connection with the fund raiser we were running we also have kiosks pointing folks to the LL bear project which also got a lot of hits on Saturday.

In addition the USS Aviator will be donating all funds generated from future events towards this event until it is no longer needed.

Pacidlux Estates will be placing these devices around the estate for all to donate to  as well as the links to buy the bears for as long as LL keeps that going on the marketplace.

Once again we thank all the people around the world for their support in this tragic and dark time for the people of Japan.

In this horrible Japan tragedy, thousands upon thousands of deaths, while every human life that has suffered, passed, or even hurt, I myself cannot also stop thinking about the thousands of animals in Japan that have also lost their lives. They have been left in homes while their owners fled for safety, they have been taken also, along the ravaged waves of the tsunami, never to meet up with their owners again, lost, cold, scared, and hungry.
I am asking you all to watch this video, and read this story:
Please understand that the human lives means just as much to me as the animals. I, as I said, am a HUGE animal advocate, and I feel that not as much effort is going towards the animals as they are towards the people. To me, they are worth just as much.
I, along with many other wonderful people who are involved are having a large fundraiser for the animals called "Project FUR Japan"
With the gracious donation of a sim by LeLutka, we are ready to get this started but we need YOU to get involved. This is how it will work:
Once we get enough people involved, we will open the sim for you to set up your creations. On the bottom of this notecard is an online form for you to fill out and one of us will be in touch to get you all set up.
Once we receive your application, you will recieve a folder with all the necessary information. All will be given more information and a vendor to put your creation inside to contribute 100% of the proceeds you make. The vendor is set to send the money to an alternate avatar (ProjectFURJapan Resident) so all money can be accounted for. The sim will be open for 2-3 weeks to collect donations for the cause. Documents will be sent and blogged with proof of the contributions made and that all monies were sent to the charity.
I have investigated all charitys and have decided on a group called Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support (JEARS). This group is comprised of three private No-Kill animal welfare organizations in Japan; HEART-Tokushima, Animal Friends Niigata and Japan Cat Network. No animal rescued by JEARS will be surrendered to Animal Control (where they would be at risk for euthanasia after three days) under any circumstance. They rescue, reunite and rehome lost and abandoned animals
I am asking, all of you, every single one of you, and everyone you know, to help these animals. We cannot be successful without you! We need bloggers too! So if any of you blog or know bloggers please have them contact us.
Please fill out this application if you are interested http://tinyurl.com/ProjectFurJapan
Bloggers & anyone else intrested in this event please contact Blazin Aubret, Tristan Careless, Sanura Snowpaw or Isaiah Tolsen.

Thank you so much from us, and the animals!

Can someone please post the final totals that were raised by the 2-day event this past weekend at Gwampa's Dance Kamp? I know the Inworld music community really came together and busted their butt on that festival, not to mention Gwampa Lomu.

I am humbled at how time and again our community comes together during these kind of crises and gives what it can to help.

I think it's great that you are doing something. However, I must say.. What about the earthquake we had here recently in New Zealand? Nothing that was organised by Lindens was done for that.... Just saying.

On the other hand, yes its great, and I will be purchasing one of those bears as knowing that another nation is suffering like we did on Feb 22nd is horrible.

I created two special editions of the picture called "Japan: Kyushu (Broken Glass)". I would like to offer these artworks to a gallery owner or an event organizer for their Japan-Sale or Auction.

The first edition is an original, signed on the front. I would like to give it to someone holding a auction.

The second edition consists of a series of 5 pictures, signed and numbered on the backside. You may sell or auction off one of these 5 pictures at any price you like.

If you would like one of these pieces for your event please IM me or send me a notecard.
