"This first show of the new Designing Worlds season is one we’ve been looking forward to for quite some time. We’re visiting the brand-new, just-opened regions of the Second Life Endowment for the Arts – the SLEA. It’s the new initiative by Linden Lab and Second Life residents to give artists a place to create, display, share, learn, and teach." Read more on the blog.

"Taking your significant other to New York or the Maldives for Valentine’s Day would most likely cost you thousands of dollars or euros.  And thanks to the pandemic it’s also not even an option for most of us.

Not so in Second Life, which has a great selection of hotels and resorts complete with five star service, luxury suites, amazing swimming pools, high end restaurants and pristine beaches.  And all that for less than the price of latte and sandwich from your local coffee shop,

As a result, here’s my pick for Valentine’s Day hotels.  These will of course also work for any other romantic break you might have planned throughout the year."

"I found Sindaria via a Scoop.it article that led me through to a Blog post about the Cyberpunk area of Sindaria. At the time of writing my previous post on Sindaria, I hadn’t fully read the said blog post, for which I owe the author an apology for seeming rather dismissive of it,when that wasn’t my intention. Anyway onto my visit to this city. Obviously this time I took the other teleport doorway, the one lit with neon." Read more on the blog.

"This guest review of MAEVA Bora Bora comes from Caitlin Tobias.  Caitlin is the blogger manager for Dutchie Designs, as well as maintaining an excellent blog in her own right... Just before the holidays really started, my friend Huckleberry Hax and I went away for a weekend trip in Second Life to a tropical and sunny destination, Maeva Bora Bora, for the SL Hotel Inspector." "A January 12th, 2021 Destination Guide blog post by Linden Lab reminded me that it has been seven-and-a-half years since my first – and up until now, only – visit to the remarkable David Rumsey Maps in Second Life (see: If maps are your thing, Rumsey’s the king!). A length of time that marks a return visit as long overdue, so I decided to jump over and renew my own acquaintance with the four-region facility." Read more on the blog.

"I came across a new Second Life destination while doing one of the Drivers of SL grid drives.  If you have done one of these, they are essentially Second Life road trips, led by a really cool GPS navigator that takes you around different mainland regions.  The grid drives usually have a theme or some sort of role play component. A lot even integrat GTFO, a freight delivery game in Second Life.  This particular drive was all about winter sports.  While I may have tired out pretty quickly, I was more than relieved to come across a bookstore/coffee shop that made the entire drive worth it." No time for real life - 3.jpg

"I know 2020 changed all of our lives in so many ways. From wearing masks and isolating to learning and working virtually. One thing that has not changed is Second Life. It is still here and better than ever. Many people from the past logged back on to see if we are still here and yes we are. If you are thinking of logging into Second Life here is a great place to start. The Retreat and the Retreat Gallery. I created some new art inspired by Covid. No worries you will be safe here and no mask is really required unless you want to wear one." Read more on the blog.

"Imagine living in a five star hotel, and having constant access to the bars, restaurant, spa and pool.  You might not want to do it all the time, but for a month or two it would be pretty great. Unfortunately in RL, extended luxury hotel stays are the preserve of film stars and business tycoons, but out of the reach of us mere mortals.  Not so in Second Life however, where it’s not only possible, but often cheaper than renting a house or skybox."
