"Melusina Parkin opened her latest exhibition in Second Life Life on Thursday, January 14th at the Kondor Art Centre’s White Gallery. Lockdown and Hope is a highly topical selection of art by Melu that takes as a part of its theme  – as the name implies – something that remains on a lot of people’s minds as we roll on into 2021: the situation around the continuing threat of the SARS-CoV-2 virus / COVID-19, and the continuing grind, for so many of us, of being in a lockdown situation that brings limited opportunities to get out, interact with others or do the things we really want to do." "Confession: I have been ill for the past week and I have no idea what to talk about that would not be depressing hahaha! To cheer me up, I made a little trip to the Lost Lagoon sim. Always such a beautiful place to visit, with the ocean around the island, the landscaping was done to perfection, and scenery that will calm the most restless spirits. It is so amazing to have the ability to find some peace of mind while exploring a virtual world. That concept absolutely fascinates me!" Read more on the blog.

Science Circle - 1.jpg

"The Science Circle sponsored a colloquium on online education, Experiences of Teaching Online from Different Perspectives, on January 8, 2021. With the mass exodus of students from the physical classroom due to the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic, learning online has become the new norm. Teachers have literally been caught up in a revolution. While online activities and computer-based learning has grown over the past two decades, no one was prepared to go to 100% online teaching and learning. The colloquium sought to explore the effects this unprecedented and rapid change has caused." Read more on the blog.

Angelus van Engelen : Richard

Interviews

"Richard is a fair, well build, curly red haired - but unusials for reds - sun tanned guy. He doesn't own a house in Second Life. He prefers to go were he wants. Home is a broad concept and he certainly has a home. It is at Calia Galadhon park complex. When I got transported to his favorite spot I saw how peaceful it was there. We stood at the edge of the park looking out over the sea." Click over to the blog to read the full interview.

"It’s been a while! Hope you all had a good Christmas, for those that celebrate and Happy New Year to you all. Some of you will know that my new year didn’t go quite to plan. Over Christmas I took a tumble down a flight of stairs and injured my ankle quite badly. It’s not broken but I did tear a ligament that required a surgery to fix. I had the surgery a week ago yesterday and I’m pretty much on bed rest. I can’t put any weight on that foot at all for another week and being an invalid is not fun! I am terrible at asking for help in almost every facet of my life and now I find myself with little choice. I can hop around a bit but what I can do for myself is very limited." "This guest review of MAEVA Bora Bora comes from Caitlin Tobias.  Caitlin is the blogger manager for Dutchie Designs, as well as maintaining an excellent blog in her own right... Just before the holidays really started, my friend Huckleberry Hax and I went away for a weekend trip in Second Life to a tropical and sunny destination, Maeva Bora Bora, for the SL Hotel Inspector." "A January 12th, 2021 Destination Guide blog post by Linden Lab reminded me that it has been seven-and-a-half years since my first – and up until now, only – visit to the remarkable David Rumsey Maps in Second Life (see: If maps are your thing, Rumsey’s the king!). A length of time that marks a return visit as long overdue, so I decided to jump over and renew my own acquaintance with the four-region facility." Read more on the blog.

Ivo's World - 1.png

"Night City, 2077, in a time where corporate rule, power struggles and impotent government have been the norm for over forty years. The streets are filled with crime, drug lords, black market body modifications, cyberware and addictions to braindances. A town that Detective Ivo has been attempting to protect with a high degree of success. He was so successful at his craft that the corporate giant Arasaka had the government expel him from the city after a major event which found him running from his own fellow officers in the Night City subway." "If I say something is art, you might think of the Mona Lisa or the Sistine Chapel or the Impressionists, or some other iconic works of art. You know what art is, because your brain has all sorts of association it can link to, and those associations have been validated as art by just about the entire planet. Not many people are going to argue that the Mona Lisa isn’t art." Read more on the blog.

"I came across a new Second Life destination while doing one of the Drivers of SL grid drives.  If you have done one of these, they are essentially Second Life road trips, led by a really cool GPS navigator that takes you around different mainland regions.  The grid drives usually have a theme or some sort of role play component. A lot even integrat GTFO, a freight delivery game in Second Life.  This particular drive was all about winter sports.  While I may have tired out pretty quickly, I was more than relieved to come across a bookstore/coffee shop that made the entire drive worth it."
