The Pillars of Hercules, Nov 2022

"Once, in the days of yore in Second Life, Scottie Menges set out to build a place of romance with a sense of antiquity and – for those with the interest – of learning. Originally built entirely using prims in 2009, The Pillars of Hercules remained open for over five years as a place of exploration, meditation, dance, and photography, before closing its doors in late 2014.

Now the build is back; Scottie has spent around 10 months rebuilding a new Pillars of Hercules, one which retains much of the feel of the later iterations of the original as well as utilising newer designs for the likes of the great temple and adding a sprinkling of mesh elements in terms of some of the statues and some of the landscaping elements, and the setting opened to the public once more on November 4th 2022."

"Two of the things I can appreciate in life are coffee and art. When it comes to the former, I take pride in being both an appreciator and a creator; I very much believe in the “old” saying life is too short for bad coffee, and always enjoy a well-made cup and genuinely enjoy making my own from beans to cup (by way of automatic prosumer coffee maker or a Cafetiere / French Press or a Moka pot, depending on mood / company). When it comes to the latter, however, I’m strictly an appreciator because I can neither draw nor paint. However, with LiThO Gallery I’ve found that I can enjoy both" Read more on the blog.

Virtual Hotels - 15.jpg

"The Empire Hotel is the centrepiece of Omerta City, a kind of noir themed town situated by a dock.  The town itself is geared up for RP with lots of individual venues, while the Hotel contains a restaurant, bakery, nightclub and photo-studio.

Though it’s still very much work in progress, it’s imaginative and really well done.  I found it a joy to explore and discover. Highly recommended and worth a visit."

"Holiday Hill @ Little Salem,  is one of the number of Festive themed sims that have sprung up over the past few weeks, and it featured in my recent Christmas round-up. Because this is a temporary holiday experience (it is open in Dec and is scheduled to close in the New Year), I’ve not reviewed it quite the same as I would ‘standard’ hotels, but hopefully this post will still give you a picture of what to expect." "Fete owners JeVon and Exeter Nova-Paines are well known in the Second Life restaurant scene, running both their own stand alone venue as well as having branches within other hotels (for example, the Japanese themed Koyo Kyoto). But until now they haven’t run a resort.  That changed after their wedding, which they staged in a SL replica of Venice." "Both my life and work revolves around travel - air travel specifically.  So when the pandemic really hit in March, my life like that of so many other people was turned upside down. Two personal trips I had planned for that month went out the window.  And two thirds of my income vanished in a puff of smoke.  From a mental health point of view, it hit me hard."
