"My exploration of largely uncharted bars, cafes, and retreats brought me to the doorstep of the Society for the Examination of Cultural Ephemera (SPECE), nestled on Corsica's Route One." Read more on the blog
"The Rosewilde Palace Hotel is a sprawling, castle-like structure with parts dating back to 2008.
It offers something of a journey through the evolution of SL graphics, with more modern additions tacked onto a pre-mesh build. While the hotel boasts extensive facilities and free rooms, the eclectic blend of styles and lack of cohesion didn't quite fit together for me.
However, it's still worth a visit for those who appreciate older SL structures or want a cost-free stay in a castle setting."
"Hotels in Second Life come and go, but The Ritz SL, at two years old, stands as a beacon of excellence, celebrating its two-year anniversary with a makeover." Read more on the blog.
"The Overlook at Cha isn't so much a hotel of the kind that I normally visit, but more of a hotel themed experience. As a result, this isn't a normal review (it wouldn't be fair, as you are not comparing like with like), but a mini-article introducing the concept to you, and of course providing the SLURL for you to visit." "With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, I wanted to preview a brand new hotel, resort and events space that’s due to open on February 12th - The Ishtar Hotel." Read more on the blog.
"When I started this website and was conducting research three and a half years ago, I stumbled upon amazing pictures on Flickr of an abandoned hotel nestled in a tropical paradise.
The images were breathtaking, but I was gutted when I found out that the Hotel Del Salto had closed its doors just weeks earlier. Now, creator Jade Koltai has resurrected this gem, and I couldn't resist paying a visit."
"This is the recreation of a RL place, not Florence, Italy of course, but instead of the tidal salt marshes of Salin d’Aigues-Mortes in France. Despite being free, the hotel is better designed and kitted out than many paid for places I've seen, and the destination itself makes for an excellent date and / or photo spot." Read more on the blog.
"Only open on weekends, The Emerald is part of “Breathe”, a popular private members’ group and bathhouse. Offering a mix of free and paid for rooms and suites, it is incredibly well thought out and designed, and with a good range of facilities." Read more on the blog
"Surrounded on all sides by water, The Dagmar Hotel has a kind of boutique feel about it. It’s got everything you expect from a four or five star hotel - a pool, sauna, beach, restaurant, and it’s actually very nicely decorated. Though it only has two rooms from what I saw, everything appears to be free, so go and check it out." Read more on the blog.
"There are times in Second Life when you stumble upon a creation so extraordinary, it begs the question: Where is everyone?
This was my reaction upon my first encounter with The Continental, created by Thecla.
In a single word, The Continental is astonishing.
To truly grasp the essence of The Continental, you really need to experience it first-hand"
"Every week I search for Hotels within the Firestorm viewer, which in the recent past has led me to hidden treasures like The Continental. This week doing so had me stumble upon the Bravin Hotel.
This modern themed venue, replete with amenities such as a dining room, spa, pool, small beach, and mini-golf course, sparked my interest after navigating in search through a sea of adult clubs masquerading as Hotels.
While there were aspects of the Bravin that appealed to me, such as its well-appointed rooms and spa, this appeal was somewhat dimmed by its high price tag in comparison to similar options. I also wondered if much of the space could have been better utilised."
"Hotel bars make for good date locations. You’ve got great cocktails and drinks, high end surroundings, a hint of luxury and decadence and excellent service." Read more on the blog.
"Second Life has a lot of forests, parks and campsites, but one of our favourites is the Mountain Drive National Park. This is meant to be a cross between the Montana Mountains and the Ozarks." Read more on the blog.
"Suhani Islands is a new airbnb, beach type place that’s become quite popular as a Flickr photo spot. It’s beautifully done, definitely worth a visit and a stay." Read more on the blog.
"The SS Galaxy is a three sim, 32,000 prim cruise ship and floating hotel. Or at least it was until May 2015, when you were able to book suites and rooms." Read more on the blog.
"Both my life and work revolves around travel - air travel specifically. So when the pandemic really hit in March, my life like that of so many other people was turned upside down. Two personal trips I had planned for that month went out the window. And two thirds of my income vanished in a puff of smoke. From a mental health point of view, it hit me hard." "Taking your significant other to New York or the Maldives for Valentine’s Day would most likely cost you thousands of dollars or euros. And thanks to the pandemic it’s also not even an option for most of us.
Not so in Second Life, which has a great selection of hotels and resorts complete with five star service, luxury suites, amazing swimming pools, high end restaurants and pristine beaches. And all that for less than the price of latte and sandwich from your local coffee shop,
As a result, here’s my pick for Valentine’s Day hotels. These will of course also work for any other romantic break you might have planned throughout the year."
"Second Life boasts dozens of hotels and resorts that mimic the RL experience. That includes a number of Christmas / Winter vacation experiences, where you can spend the holidays with friends, or with a significant other. Here’s my pick of places you might want to go to, this holiday season." Read more on the blog.
"We don’t only do hotels, sometimes we also profile cafes, restaurants or date spots that we like. One of those is Salt & Siren created by our friends Harlow and Harvey Holiday." Read more on the blog.
"Valentine's is now two weeks away, which means many Second Life couples will be thinking of how and where to spend it. Second Life has dozens of hotels and resorts that mimic the RL experience, and having now stayed in close to 60, here are my romantic picks for Valentine's and beyond." Read more on the blog.
"Winter in New York is a new resort experience from the team behind Timor Isles, which has now closed for the Winter. It includes a variety of New York themed attractions (Central Park, the Rockefeller Center skating rink, the Statue of Liberty etc), spread around a series of streets designed to look like Manhattan. Around the sim you then have hotel rooms of varying size and cost." Read more on the blog.
"Over the past few years Highlife Destinations has come out with a series of very popular resort concepts including Las Vegas, New York and Ibiza. Their Summer 2023 offering is the Balinese-themed Timor Isles." Read more on the blog.
