  1. Here in most of the United States, we’ve entered that time of year where it gets dark very early. It will literally feel like 10 pm at night when it’s barely 6 or 7 pm. The temperatures dip in the evenings, but there is still enough of the Autumn sunshine to keep us from realizing how fast November is moving by! In stores, they’ve already begun to deck the halls, and there’s the distinct sound of jingles and holiday tunes in the air. The new holiday cups at coffee shops all already out, and there’s no denying that … winter is coming.

We’re all set to go walking in some Winter wonderlands in our next episode of Lab Gab with Xiola & Strawberry. What’s not to love about sweater weather, a cozy scarf, and the calming crackling of a toasty fire? Winter is a time of year for family, friends, holidays, and cheer - and we’re ready to bring some of that cheer to Lab Gab.

We’ll be going live at 3 pm (PT/SLT) this Wednesday, November 20th.

  3. UPDATE: Well, it looks like that may have been a quicker fix than we'd expected. Things should be back on track. Please let us know if you run into any issues using the submission form.

    Hello all!

Our Destination Guide is a great source for exploring places in Second Life. In fact, you may have noticed we regularly feature some of these spots in our ongoing Destination Guide Video series

We believe that the content created by our communities is some of the most compelling, creative, and interesting content under the sun (virtually and atomically!) That is why we are always looking for new places and events to add to the Destination Guide - or DG as we have come to call it here at the Lab.

There are usually two ways to submit your spots for consideration - a web form and email. Unfortunately, it was recently discovered that the form is not working 100% of the time. We have identified the issue and put it on the radar for fixing - but our folks are working really hard on a few other priority things - things you all have been eagerly awaiting - and it may be a bit longer before that form gets fixed. Fear not though - we’ve got the editor@lindenlab.com email for this specific reason. In fact, we have been taking submissions via that address for many years, and glad to have it available for you to send us your cool Regions, spaces, spots, events, and experiences.

When emailing editor@lindenlab with your submission, please provide the same information that you would through the form:

    • Title
    • Description
    • Image (657 width by 394 height)

More information about submission guideline specifics can be found in the Knowledge Base here. We will be sure to update once the form is back in full swing. Share what you’re creating with us!

    Hello Residents of Second Life!

Over the last few days, Residents using certain email providers may have noticed that they are not receiving all email notifications for events such as Marketplace purchases and Offline Messages.

Email has come a long way since it was first introduced to the world in the 1960s. There are many factors that affect the deliver-ability of a message, and algorithms which affect it are constantly being updated.  Sometimes things go awry despite best intentions - such as certain phrases being flagged as indicative of spam, or the volume of messages sent in a certain time frame.

Second Life is a complex beast and not all our email sending practices are as good as they could be. We are re-examining these practices and we’re going to do better to make sure our Residents are able to get the information they need.

There are some things you, as the recipient, can also do to better ensure deliver-ability, such as having email filters, white-listing certain contacts, checking your spam folder and marking legitimate messages “Not Spam,” and even contacting your email providers about certain emails.

If you are experiencing issues receiving emails from us, you may also want to consider updating your email temporarily to a different provider (for example if @yahoo emails are failing, try a @gmail account), verifying your email address with us (offline IMs, friendship offers, auctions, etc all require a verified address), and white-listing (add sender to contacts) Second Life messages to ensure you receive them in the future. It’s always best to use an email account that is only accessible by you.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and will provide updates once available.

    By Linden Lab,

    Happy Friday!

Our new auctions system has now been live for awhile and we wanted to give you an update on how it’s working. We’ve been very pleased with our Linden-run auctions and judging from your response, so have you. Our team of land experts will be continuing to offer those daily.

Our Resident to Resident auctions need a little more work. Effective the morning of October 14, creating new Resident to Resident auction listings will no longer be possible, while we take them back to the drawing board. All existing auction listings will be allowed to complete as originally scheduled.

Any additional requests for abandoned Mainland can always be made via support ticket and we will continue to evaluate whether they are eligible for direct sale.
