  1. Hey, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. SL works perfectly when it first starts up. I get between 25-30 FPS on ultra settings. After usually less than an hour I notice the frame rate slow decrease until it eventually settles at 6-7 fps. After that there is nothing I can do to fix it short of restarting the viewer. While at that 6-7 fps, even if I turn the graphics to the lowest setting and disable everything it still gives no more than 6-10 FPS. Once the viewer goes over 1.5gb of memory usage it's unplayable. I've tried just about everything I could think of - starting off at lower graphics, enabling a disabling different settings like texture compression, I even tried Singularity and Firestorm and had the same FPS drop after 30-40 minutes. I have a fairly decent rig I put together specifically for gaming. (i7, 6GB RAM, GTX 560 Ti SC) Any help would really be appreciated! *edit* I just did a little digging and after reading some older posts, I may have found the cause.. I checked just now and it seems like what is causing at least most of the FPS drop after time is the chat window. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Viewer/MASSIVE-FPS-drop-when-using-IM-chat/td-p/2282269 According to ^this thread it has to do with the chat log building up. I haven't been able to find a fix for it though :( has anyone else come across this issue?
  2. Is there a point to this thread? Seems like you're getting off on the drama.
  3. welcome to SL we can hang out if we're ever on at the same time. I tend to be on later in the evening though (PST).
  4. it really is different! When I last tried SL I remember flexi prims being the new cutting edge feature lol..
  5. I'm in the same boat ~ ive been looking for a good social hangout place for a while but they're not easy to find. I got tired of the gesturespam at clubs too. Do you like live musicians? That can be a nice if you go with some friends and chat it up while listening to some live music.
  6. What viewer are you using? It almost sounds like it isn't compatible with mesh. Other than that check to make sure you have the mesh alpha layer applied.
  7. Good luck! It can be a lot of fun setting up your avatar's first look.. If you're looking for hair, mesh heels, and mesh clothes check out Maitreya. They have some of the very best heels ive seen and their hair has great detail/realism for non-mesh. They've had a store-wide sale going on the last couple weeks.
  8. Yea! Making a group of friends would be great in case not everyone can be on at the same time due to time zones & RL. So there'll be at least a few of us on to carry on the schemes I always thought it would be great to have a hangout spot to just kick it with friends but every time I've gone to one of the chat spots in SL I've felt kind of like the odd one out that no one knows I'll add you all next time I'm on
  9. Not having any way to adjust mesh clothing is another reason why some would prefer prim and sys clothing. Sizes are hit or miss a lot of the time and having to adjust your shape just to fit each of your mesh outfits can be a hassle. There's really no standard either it seems as a 'small' from one designer might be vastly different than from another designer. That's the main reason why for mesh I'll tend to stick to only a few stores. I've had luck mixing and matching pieces from ColdLogic and Maitreya; and OneBadPixel has some nice jeans. I rarely notice the mesh glitching with my AO. One thing ~~ even though I like mesh clothing, I'm not a fan of mesh hair. I have yet to find some with decent textures and I don't like the way the hair looks so stiff/rigid when av turns head.
  10. I'm the complete opposite. I was a member of SL off and on from 2005-2006 and it was the visuals and technical issues that I had wished would be improved. When I came back to try SL out again the first thing I did was buy mesh clothing, shoes. When I was on SL last things like flexible prims were NEW features. Sculpted prims? Nope. Hair looked just plain bad back then. Not to mention the majority of new players had the dreaded white shirt, blue pants, av hair by default. If anything the new improvements should give a veteran/whatever member more reason to stick around. Do you notice it being mostly guys? Guys tend to be more satisfied just sticking with what they got. I've known guys on SL who hadn't changed their avatars clothes for months. And more than a few of them only updated their wardrobe or appearance because some gals did the shopping/picking things out for them. No offense guys I know some of you are fashionable!
  11. Your av looks gorgeous rocking the bangs! I'm on the west coast and usually on in the evening/late-ish but I'd totally be up for shopping or hanging out anytime we're both on. It would be nice to get a group of friends put together at some point.
  12. Thanks it's great so far. Still looking for a social chat spot or group of friends where I can fit in. I tried some of the 'chat spots' in the destinations window but it seems like there's usually grievers there.
  13. I spend too much on myself already.. I couldn't afford to be a sugar momma! Friends could do though.. Hit me up if we're on at the same time.
  14. I'll shop with you :matte-motes-tongue: Being newish I still have a LOT more shops to check out.. Also really interested in looking at some mesh furniture/houses. I'm blown away by the quality of a lot of the stuff I've seen. I'm not terribly familiar with daft punk.. is it euro? If it's like a lot of eletronica i've heard I'd probably like it. Some of the trance stuff makes me dizzy though LOL :matte-motes-little-laugh:
  15. I'm a returning SLer (I tried it back in 2005-2006). I've been messing around for a few days shopping and checking out clubs. Had a blast shopping for some really beautiful skins/clothes/hair (especially compared to the last time I was in SL). One of the first things I did after first logging in was buy mesh hands, shoes, etc.. Hopelessly picky i know XD. Anyway ~~~ I'm liking it a lot so far but I haven't really had a chance to meet anyone or socialize. I'd love to find a group of friends to hang out with so I don't feel like the odd one out at some of these parties! Hit me up I love to chat about anything! Fashion/shopping/TV/games >:)
