  1. I couldn't find where else to put this post, but I'm looking to recover one of my earlier Second Life accounts from 2006. I signed up back then only to mess around, and I'd like to be able to login again. I still have the login name, and access to the original email address used, but I don't remember the security question, as it was so long ago and I must've mispelled the correct answer. The email address is actually my full name; if I could somehow provide proof of identity to Linden Labs, do you think they'd be able to 'unlock' the account for me?

  3. I can see that there's been a few AMD related issues lately, but they don't seem to affect performance too dramatically ... Infact, a user mentioned that they had -boosted- performance, even. I've read that the Radeon 7850 HD is apparently a pretty good card for Second Life. Could it be my CPU? Do I need to disable a certain setting? I know a few friends of mine have been getting 30 - 40 fps in the same areas I've been in, while I get 9 - 10. I'm really confused ...
  4. It actually doesn't really matter what graphical settings I use. No matter how low I set them, the change in framerate is so minor it's not worth switching to a lower preset. That's kind of why I'm so confused. I honestly feel that it's a compatibility issue with my AMD card.
  5. Specifications: CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Hex Core (2.4Ghz) GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB OC OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Viewer: Phoenix Firestorm 4.6.9.42974 (Latest release) I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I can't really figure out where else I'd put it. Regardless, I've been having absolutely horrendous framerate issues ever since I started using Second Life. It's extremely rare for me to get over 25fps in any given area, and most of the time I sit on 10 - 20 fps. It's bearable, but once I go to a crowded club, It'll become a slide show, at 5 - 7fps. It's really awful. Does anybody know what the problem is?
  6. So... Long story short. I made this account, because I had no intention on actually getting into Second Life. Fast forward a year later, and I'm a daily user. It's a big part of what I do every day, but every so often, someone will call me by my username, or they'll question it. I chose the username, because it was just something simple I thought I could remember; If I knew I'd still be using SL today, I'd have made it something different. I can change my display name, but people will always be able to see my username above my head, underneath my display name. Some people even call me by it and it frustrates me a little. So... That's where I ask you guys. I really want to cover this name. If I could, I'd even transfer all my content from one account to another, but since a good number of my inventory is non-transferable I don't believe that's possible... I know it's a niche issue, and it's entirely my fault, but does anybody have any suggestions?
  7. Hi all, big SL newbie here. I recently bought an avatar model and then a skin for the avatar. For the skin to look complete, I'd need to put the new skin texture onto the head, but whenever I do this, it instantly reverts back and never applies to the model at all. I'm getting pretty frustrated by this, and I really don't know what to do. I haven't selected multiple models, I've selected the right one, the texture is for the right object but it simply will not stick. Anybody got a solution?
