  1. I'm wondering, does anyone know any good shoe stores for women? Like 300L or less would be good. I have a friend who is looking for stores, and I can't help her out that much because I don't know a lot about women's fashion.
  2. I tried UW and it wasn't there. I highly doubt it's a Dura hairstyle, but I'll give that a shot. To SephoraMoonlight, if you get a response on that NC, please let me know! D:
  3. So basically, my internet connection is fine. Please understand that. Though it should be pretty obvious because I'm posting this right now, and that requires an internet connection. That being said, I keep getting an error message when I try to log into SL. I've tried both the official viewer and firestorm and neither is working right. So...what's up? It gets to the region handshake and quits working, and tells me to check my internet connection or that there might be a problem with the grid. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there some way to fix it? This is the second time this has happened to me...it happened last week. And it's getting pretty annoying. Oh, computer specs. HP Touchsmart Tm2 1.3 Ghz Intel processor 6 GB Ram ATI Mobile Radeon HD 4550 Windows 7 Professional, 64 Bit Uh...using wifi, high speed internet roadrunner, dunno the specifics on my connection, to be frank. The Firestorm and SL viewer were both the latest version. I took a picture of the error message. http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/1708/errorqy.png Update: I realized I had peerblock active, I think that was what caused it this time. I'm so dumb. v_v Thank you for your help.
  4. There are loads of freebie blogs out there, but my advice is to start checking out shops. Many, many stores have things called Lucky Boards, where you can get a prize just from waiting until the first letter of your username is called, and some have Midnight Madness boards. A lot of stores also have freebies, and things like group gifts, where you can get something for free just for being a part of a group. (And a good chunk of the groups have absolutely no requirements to join!) There are also blogs that keep up with group gifts, lucky boards, and so on. I'll link some of my favorites: http://slfreestyle.blogspot.com/ http://another-otaku-gay.tumblr.com/ (Which, just to add, there are a lot of great SL blogs on Tumblr, though not as many freebie ones.) http://www.flickr.com/groups/sl-galaxy_blog_freebies/ http://secondlife24h.com/ http://resasfreebiecorner.wordpress.com/ http://slwonderland.blogspot.com/ http://www.flickr.com/groups/slhuntaddicts/ Other than that, there are two things I can think of that you can do. The first is called hunting. Hunting is where you go either within a shop or throughout multiple shops, and you search for a specific item. You have to scour the store and find the thing, and if you do, it leads to a prize that you buy for 0L. Sometimes the prizes are 10, 15, even 50L, but they're still vastly underpriced compared to most clothing. Hunts can be kind of a pain in the butt, because you have to actually look around, and some stores are huge, but they're fun and a lot of the prizes are amazing. That being said, there are many blogs dedicated to hunts, as well. http://slhunts.wordpress.com/ http://slfreebiehunters.blogspot.com/ http://fabfree.wordpress.com/sl-hunts-advents/ Other than that, the only other options I can think of involve earning L. There are a bunch of different ways to do that. The first I might suggest is go to Linden Realms. It can be a pain in the butt and it's glitchy sometimes, but if you go through the quests and everything, you can get like 25-50L. From there, I'd advise you to go to a store called Mother Goose. I say that because there are not so many stores that offer cheap skins and shapes, and Mother Goose has a ton laying around the store for 1L, if you know where to look. And once you have that, you can get some decent outfits for free. You can also use camping and money trees, but, I'll be honest, they don't seem to be around anymore. From there, once you have a decent skin and some clothing, you can do two things. The easiest would be to grab a friend and start doing contests. If you go to clubs, many of them hold contests, and you can see some of those in the events when you search for destinations in the viewer. Just look around, and check it out. You enter the contest and vote for your friend, and your friend votes for you. Not all contests work the same way, but I can tell you that if you go to the Shimmy Shack or the Docks, as two examples, then you'll get some kind of payout if you have a vote. The only catches are that you have to be dressed in theme, and you have to stay at the contest or you'll be inelligible to win. Once you've won enough contests, and you have a decent wardrobe, then you can try to get a job. The most popular entry level jobs are dancers, hosts, and DJs. The catch on this is that you'll have to stick around for at least a month before people will start considering you for a job, just because they want to be sure that you know the ropes of SL. But, if you're very good at being sociable, or you have great tastes in music, then you'll fit right in. Sorry I kind of went overboard there with information. But hopefully this will help you out. There just so much you can do to find clothing and earn lindens, it just takes a bit of work and research. But, by far, the best advice I can give you is to get out there and meet people. Make friends. You'll find that your experience will be much easier if you have somebody to guide you there. I know that was something that helped me out a lot. With that said, I wish you luck and I hope you enjoy SL!

  6. Why would it be against the TOS to ask somebody their age? o-o That just seems silly to me. I know that age-based discrimination is against the TOS, but I hardly see how asking somebody how old they are would be offensive.
  7. I would probably advise somebody who is 13-14 to stick with teens, just because of safety issues. But I don't think that older teens should really have this problem, just because you know how to be sensible and fairly mature. (And I'm assuming it'd be a non issue anyways, since people 13-15 have to stay within specific sims.) But somebody who is 16-17, I don't think that's a problem. For the most part, a 17 year old is as mature as an 18 year old, and a 16 year old isn't that far off. And, from personal experience, I've only been 18 for a little over a month and I've had no problem getting along with people and starting conversations. The only thing you'd have to worry about is somebody mistakenly hitting on you, I suppose, but I doubt people are going to general sims to pick people up. Don't worry, it's not like adults are talking about anything all that advanced; it's mostly just the same stuff, like politics, daily life, jokes, things like that.
  8. I'm more of a fan of straight leg pants, personally. Baggy pants make people look goofy.
  9. Just adding this in...being a better person means not shoving your silly religion down other people's throats. :matte-motes-wink:
  10. I guess I should say, I've considered making things on Second Life, but I don't really know where to start. You see, for a long time I was developing clothing on IMVU, but I did texturing. The way it works there is that there are 3D meshers and texturers (and people who do both) and some of the meshers allow texturers to derive off of their products and add in their own textures. So, as you can guess, I'm at a loss for Second Life. Is there a market for people who do that kind of thing? How do I know what meshs I can make clothes off of, so to speak? Is it the same way here? I guess I feel lost. Any advice at all would be great. I love painting textures for clothing, I'm just...not so great on the 3D part.
  11. Does anyone have a list of stores like these? I only know male stores like Narcissus' Closet and The Men's Dept, so I'm at a loss when helping out a friend of mine. Does anyone know? I mean stores where good designers sell their stuff for cheap, like 70L or something. Like the stores I listed.
  12. Click the picture of the T Shirt on the left side of your screen. Once you get to that window, click on the screwdriver and wrench. Then, you can hover over anything and an "x" will appear that will remove whatever you want to. It might take a few seconds. If you did tha and it still doesn't work, the best thing I can tell you is to log in and out. I know, sometimes I've had to log out because something wouldn't add or remove from my outfit.
  13. You, sir, are amazing. Thank you so much! (And, if anyone is curious, it's still in the Sadistic Hacker store, just picked it up. You do have to buy the Kirio hair, but it's only 180L!)
  14. http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_m26i9g0jyj1r7p6wto3_1280.png I'm wondering if somebody could help me. I really like the fact that the hair is multicolored and I would love to purchase it. I was going to ask the person on their Tumblr, but they don't have a contact or ask feature. >.< So, does anyone know what hair it is? I just found it while browsing Tumblrs, so I don't have any way of identifying it other than asking around. :(
