  1. I'd like the sidebar to stop covering the bottom bar; here's the jira issue: VWR-24087 As a user, the bottom bar should remain the same size, never being altered by the sidebar.
  2. Since the introduction of the new naming system, new users are unable to access the blogs, which means they can't access the Second Life Answers user to user help system to get help with using and enjoying their new Second Life account.. There is a report about this problem at http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2010/11/18/post1161/ There is a jira issue about this problem at https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-3308 It would be really nice to get a comment from a Linden Lab employee on the state of progress on this issue.
  3. Some new naming system accounts are being confused with old naming system accounts, making it impossible for users with this problem to access their old account's account information for such things as updating billing information, changing passwords, reviewing their account history, age verification, partnering, going premium, or canceling their account. There is a jira issue about this problem at https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-3331 , " After logging in to secondlife.com as Sharcel Bellic, I am taken to ChuckBaggett's dashboard ". These are important functions. Not being able to access your account information is a non-trivial problem for those so affected. Votes and watches on this issue, WEB-3331 , would be appreciated by those with affected accounts.
  4. Are new accounts created with the new one-name system able to access the blogs? I made a new account with the new one-name system, and I can't access the blogs. Is this happening to no else, some new accounts, or all new accounts?
  5. The first comment is formatted wrong; the text doesn't wrap, it sticks off the right side. Does anyone else see this problem?
  6. Jack Linden wrote: @Sharcel.. Yeah the registration pages will be changing to match the display names feature. When?
  7. I just tried to create a new account, and the new account creation page still has you pick a first name without being able to see the last names, and presumably then picking a last name - I'm not sure, because I stopped at that point. Is the name creation process going to change to where you can create an account with the name of your choice, and that's what people will see in-world and in the blog-forums?
  8. You can create a prim, make the script be what you want your default script to be, name the script and prim as you want, then take the object back into your inventory, putting it a folder with a name like "Prims for scripting". Then when you want to create a prim with a script in it, drag the desired prim from your inventory onto the ground. You can do this for prims of each type, box, cylinder, torus, etc., as well as prims with any special shapes, textures, etc. you want to create easily.
  9. Do you have Quicktime installed? Is so you could try uninstalling it.
  10. Can you copy the info about your system from Help About Second Life and paste it here? Have you done a "Detach All" to remove all attachments? Do you get an error message when you are "kicked off with a crash"? If so, what is the exact text of the error message? Exactly what version of video driver are you using? Did you update from Microsoft or did you got to the ATI site to get the updated driver? What anti-malware software are you using? Have you been successfully using SL on the pentium 4 computer with the x300 for months? If so, with what viewer? Next time you buy a computer you might want to ask for advice on what to buy from the SL user community before buying it. Basically, no one should be buying any systems with AGP cards now. They are long obsolete. What firewall do you use? Do you have windows set on automatic update? Have you got your ports properly opened? Have you checked that your fans are clean and spinning freely? What all viewers do you currently have installed? Do you have the cache folders shared by different viewers? Have you tried deleting your settings.xml file(s)?
  11. The release suggest it was available May 4, 2007. 12. One way to find out things about Second Life is to go to the Knowledge Base and do a search. The Knowledge Base can be found at http://secondlife.com/kb. Going to the Knowledge Base and searching for "Preferences" gives as the first result a link to an article titled "Prefences Window Guide", which has a detailed look at the Preferences dialog, with nice images of the various tabs and explanations of each item. https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417&task=knowledge&questionID=4238
