  5. In Second Life Fashion photography has become fine art, and in turn fine art has become fashion photography. Great photos are not only conveying the clothing, they are conveying a spirit by using different levels much as shadows and lighting reveal different levels of an image. The physical quality and formal appearance is the first level, however fron an artist's standpoint the photographer is simply not just illustrating the clothing and model, they are transforming them. This transformation is a new genre in Second Life. It has elevated fashion photography to an outstanding art form with imaginative images that take the viewer and introduce them to not only the clothing but invite them into the virtual world. The approach and direction has recently shifted to the use of shadows and contrast to convey emotion and offer up a new and free style. The works of recent fashion photographers such as Kyrie Source, William Weaver, Agustin Wonder, Neva Crystall, Krise Shepherd, Patricie Sapphire, Marcopol Oh, Anon120, Petra Messioptra, Del May, Mikey Batriani, Graphic Dix, are just a few of those exploring the new form of fashion photography and have taken fashion in a fantastic new artistic direction. Fashion photography first and foremost will always be a genre of photography that has something to do with clothes, accessories, shoes and other fashion items. It will always offer us the image of being glamourous, stylish, trendy, sophisticate and fun. As always the SecondLife world takes on a hyper-kinetic timeline from the real world. It is by it's very nature a departure into the virtual. This by no means limits things to what appears on any computer screen. Fashion photography offers us the ''Alice effect'' where we can step through the looking glass (our computer screens) and be transported on a wonderful journey.
  6. Fashion always will have the tradition of the glamorous women and men of the catwalk. A front row seat at any fashion show has and always will be (we fashionistas hope) a coveted thing and place to see and be seen. Larger than life, the lanky models pout and pose for the camera as they strut their stuff and premiere the next season's trends. However, this industry is not just about the runway... Those dedicated followers of fashion can recall some of the breath-taking and awe-inspiring works from such famous fashion photographers as Mario Testino, Steven Meisel and Annie Leibovitz. There are the classics which belong to the likes of Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton and Herb Ritts. They form the ''Parthenon'' of fashion photography. They pioneered the now famous and iconic looks which are a study in reflected natural light and shadow contrasts. Contemporary fashion photography is a blend of creativity. The artist's eye of both the photographer and the designer, devoting themselves entirely to environments and poses which not only show the apparel but create a world around them. A moment in time capturing an entire concept around the model, the clothing and the setting. All artwork, all photography...has the ability to take the viewer to another place. Your senses are transported through sight and perception and taken on a journey just by the glance at a photo. Oh, how we love that journey! To be sent to another level of virtual consciousness through the marriage of fashion and photography. These two worlds meet in Second Life with the most amazing results.
