  1. Dang! Before I read this post & just saw the pictures I thought I was going to have to report it for discussing Pink Elephants. 😄
  2. Good move. Always pick up your No Copy items if the situation seems tenuous.
  3. You can disable notices from groups without quiting them, then re-enable them whenever you wish in the profile for each group. If your landlord intentionally disabled all payments, this could signal that he intends to close the rental group. Can you contact other renters to ask if they're experiencing similar problems? Since you've contacted your landlord, if he does automatically evict you, you will at least have proof that you had a technical problem and tried to remedy it. He might reinstate your rental with an apology for the confusion and possibly a week or so of free rent.
  4. As educated adults it is our responsibility to try to be understood and to try to understand others. This is why using words that are likely to be understood to mean what we think they mean is important. Doing something that makes one feel good is not the same as doing something that improves one's resilency. For instance, people who experience PTSD might use desensitization techniques in SL that don't make them feel good, but do help to lower their negative reactions. Forcing oneself to keep talking with and listening to someone who is irritating, might help one to understand them even if it also increases one's own stress level temporarily.
  5. I think additions such as the scar are often an attempt to tell something about the avatar or the user. As such, it makes your avatar more interesting. If he were a RP character it might signal that he's been in battle or had a rough life. Some people want to signal something like this about their RL self too. Thus people seeing the scar will probably wonder what it means, which will mean they are at least thinking about you and your avatar. Some people might be turned off by any kind of injury or deformity on an avatar, but those might be the kind of people you'd rather weed out.
  6. That lottery game has my attention. Is it for group only? How much does it cost to join? Is it for store credit or lindens?
  7. Bluebirds initiate resplendent dawn song. T R I L L
  8. You have a 3rd option too. Start a thread asking for help with a picture of your avatar in the post. The people who hang out on these forums will give you advice, sometimes conflicting or beyond your understanding, but based on their own experience. Then maybe someone will also offer to go inworld to help you.
  9. I loved how the mirror looked in the video. I think it said that for now mirrors have to be on a flat surface (though obviously reflections work on mirror balls too) and there could only be one mirror active at at time (in a room?).
  10. Here's another idea. If you have a group with multiple users and you don't use all your tier to buy mainland, you may be able to have a Linden Home that all your group members can use too. Only one account can own a Linden Home, but you could set your Linden Home parcel so that other group members can rez stuff there. You can also add their names to the house controller list, so they can lock or unlock the doors, open or close the blinds, etc. You might want a 512 sq meter Linden Home that group member could use, but it would have to be claimed by someone who has at least 512 m of tier available (not contributed to the group). (I also have a radio in my LH that lets other people change the music stream on my parcel, though they can't change the channels available from it.)
  11. This is probably your best way to have land. If your friend is Premium, you both can hold 1024 m of land without paying monthly tier for it. If they're Plus, they can have 512 m. Create a group, have your Basic alt and your friend join it. Then you and your friend can both contribute tier to it. Give you're alt co-owner rights. Give your friend officer rights if they contribute less tier to the group than you do, or possibly co-owner rights if they contribute the same amount of tier as you do. Remember that group owners can kick out any members except other owners and can sell or abandon group owned land, so you have to really be able to trust other group owners. Owners will also be equally responsible for any group fees, whether they contribute any tier or not. Once you have a group and have picked out land that you and your friend both like, wear your group tag, right click on the land, and buy it for your group, rather than buying it for yourself. Items rezzed while people have on their group tag will now be set to the group. You can give your friend as many group rights as you wish, even if they're not a group owner - changing the music stream, terraforming the land, inviting other people to the group, ejecting people from the land or the group, etc. Here's the best part of group ownership of land. You can all now own more land and use more land impact. Two people with 1024 m of tier contributed to the group can buy and own 2048 m + 192 m = 2240 square meters of land. (It's not + 204 m because land is bought and sold in units of 4x4 = 16 square meters.) You can divide this land into separate parcels or keep it all as one parcel, as long as it's all owned by the same group and is in the same region. If in the future you or your friend either removes their tier contribution or doesn't pay for their account level on time, your land could be reclaimed by LL, but they usually give you time to correct such problems. If you or your friend don't pay for their account or other fees on time, you or they could also be locked out of your account until those fees are paid. This is why it's good to have a Basic account alt with group ownership rights, so your alt can take care of things if your main account is ever locked out.
  12. I think Gabriel has good quality mens clothing, if you like their styles. There are others, but since I don't use my male alt much, I can't remember the store names. I suggest joining the L'Homme Magazine group to find quality mens items. I consider it to be kind of the GQ magazine of SL.
  13. A few ways that quality clothing might be defined in SL: There is no break-through showing the body under mesh clothing when the avatar is in commonly represented positions. The clothing shows realistic texture and shading, especially creases and pleating. There is minimal stretching of textures when the avatar moves. BOM or system layer clothing has clean lines at its edges and wraps realistically where the edges of textures meet.
  14. Portraying simulated sex with a minor human is illegal in many countries. Because nothing portrayed in SL is real, the portrayal and the age of users is all that matters here. RL statutes do not figure into the discussion, except in the definition of what is a "minor" in SL. Because what happens in private in SL is unlikely to be reported, this only matters when it is reported. When an illegal activity is reported to LL, it then becomes their responsibility to deal with it by banning those who got caught breaking the rules (and the laws). Linden Lab likely doesn't want to be viewed as contributing to RL child pornography or abuse either, so any depictions that could be viewed by the public are also their concern. Viewing simulated behavior that is illegal or repugnant to most people won't make most people want to do that behavior in RL, but for those who are inclined to do such behaviors in RL, viewing it might encourage them. Thus LL must make it difficult for sexual AP to be seen, even if they can't stop it completely.
