  1. With the bloodlines game people don't just go around biting people unknown. Bloodlines unlike a couple of other vampire systems in SL has a permission system. You either accept or decline. If you decline they can't bite you. So with bloodlines what is the big deal. There are other systems in SL that does not have the permission system in place.
  2. The grid status page says the issue is resolved yet I still can not log on all at on the marketplace.
  3. I love the requirements and agree with them and they are no problem. lol I've actually seen some people snagging things from my one art account and uploading already and those are just textures and art. No biggie though I make certain ones avaiable anyway. However this will make things much easier. Maybe just maybe it will also make people aware of certain rites creators have.
  4. Unfortunately that is one of the pitfalls for renting from a private Sims. Not all the owners will notify you if the sim is going offline. That is why it is advisable to not put anything down on a private estate that is no copy you should always put things down that are copy or put something down and take it right back into your inventory when finished. I know its a lot of time wasted to do that with no copy items but not everyone is reputable.
  5. Sassy Romano wrote: Have you fixed the issue of gifting adult items to teens? A test yesterday revealed that an adult rated item CAN be delivered to teens. How will you address this without then exposing the receipient as a teen? Responding to the purchaser with "sorry, cannot deliver adult item to a teen" is a bit of a giveaway and unwittingly becomes a self TOS breach of privacy. I would have thought that addressing the legal ramifications of what can be done via the Marketplace would be more important than the changes listed here since it is LL that has brought this situation upon itself. To add onto this question is it possible to cut out gifting adult items till you solve the gifting to teens problem.

If we sell via the Marketplace, we will, with some effort, be able to flag our products so they can be access controlled by the purchaser's maturity rating, and the 16 and 17 year olds will only be able to buy goods tagged as G-rated. Eventually, other content can be flagged so only those with payment info on file or Aristotle age verification can see and buy Adult items. And Linden Lab insists this is necessary, and a good idea. Right? Then WHY will in-world merchants not have the same protection from their goods being sellable to the minors that you have insisted on allowing into our virtual world full of non-G-Rated content? If this is necessary for the Marketplace, then it's necessary in-world, too. Give us the ability, by script, to allow or prohibit sales or scripted activity based on the maturity rating cap allowed by the purchasing account. GIVE THAT TO US NOW! If the Marketplace needs to be able to check a buyer's ID, and prohibit transactions for those whose maturity rating isn't adult enough, then the rest of the transactions in-world deserve the same protection. Period. You say we need to restrict access to Mature and Adult content, so the minors can't buy it? I agree. But that must apply equally to ALL BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS in SL, and not just to the marketplace. Why is an on-line purchase of a XXX pose ball set any different than buying that same pose ball set from a scripted vendor in-world? Why is it different for buying a Mature-rated, detailed Human skin? We have told you and proven to you that the teens will easily be able to cam from G-rated into Mature regions and make purchases that are in no way suitable for use in G-rated sims. We merchants have BEGGED you for the ability to detect the minors by script, and ban them from making purchases. LL refused. No more. You admit now that it is necessary. Well, it is necessary IN-WORLD, even more than on-line. This exactly this
  7. Welcome aboard Rod so does this mean SL is going to become just another game?
  8. See, Nany? This is how it's done. This person did a fantastic job of supporting your position and lays out a good progression of logical statements supporting your premise. For the record, Harmony, I think you are mostly spot on. With adult content driven entirely into Zindra, Making it it's own grid and having SL Disney World as a separate product could be done simply. I think a completely sanitized mainland is now inevetible. The only thing that does not work for me is that the senior people are leaving and there is still no announcement of a sale. From what I've seen IRL (sadly I've been through more than one buyout) is that a lot of the brass sticks around to assist in the transition and then leave after the sale. Big layoffs in the mid and mid-upper ranks make sense, but now two head honchos gone and no announcement? Still, you make a lot of sense. Yes she makes a lot of Sense but say wasn't there an announcment a while back that one of WOW's prominint PR people was now working for SL. You don't think..........follow the thought.
  9. I double checked just now. I was standing in a PG sim and could see everything going on in the neighboring mature sims and beyond that too. Thats the problem right there not to mention shopping from a sim or two sims away.
  10. No there are no PG areas that border an adult sim. these are either on their own estates or in zindra. There are some mature sims that are next to PG sims. The issue about seeing adult content in mature sims from neighboring PG sims is not really an issue. Even before the teen grid merger announcement and the moving of adult content to zindra, people in the mature sims had to hide the adult content from being viewed from the PG sims next to them. Nothing is changing here. You could not have any signs with nuditity or outdoor nudist parks on a parcel that could be viewed from PG parcels. When I heard about this rule years ago from some club owners I knew and in the blogs, I was shaking my head at that rule. Personally I do not see a problem with Teens coming to this grid nor will it have any effect on how I act in Second Life. The problem is camming distance really. Have you ever cammed through a wall to look and buy something you wanted because you didn't want to move from that spot. Have you ever cammed from one sim to another to buy something in a store that was behind a wall. I have stood in one spot on a mature sim and bought clothing from a pg sim, During one of the hunts I found myself in a pg sim I saw another shop in another sim so I cammed over and found some lingerie Very transparent lingerie some smexual poses that were there. I cammed in and bought the outfits and a couple of very nice animated poses. When I had finished I walked over to the store and it was a mature sim bordering a pg sim. So You can cam into anywhere get behind the walls and buy things like I did earlier. On another subject I really wish the hunts would label there sims on the hints as to whats a pg mature or adult area. Some of us don't like ending up in pg areas.
  11. One of SL's charms is that it is not real life. So why would people want it to mimic real life? With all the restraints and restrictions real life has in it is due to the basic rules of civility however a lot of the minors don't even follow those constraints themselves. Also I want to point out that many of the games the minors play on their grids are not, NOT allowed in general sims on the main grid. They are, ARE allowed in mature and Adult. So where does that leave the minors that loves these types of combate and other games? It will just give them more of a reason to make adult accounts and fake their ages just to play these types of games.
  12. To many people SL is different things to each and every one. Most of us came here not just for sex alone heck My real life husband and I are on here together as a couple and stick to each other. However I can tell you what it is to us. A place to go out and hang with our friends and dance without kids so dating each other. Something we don't get to do in real life. Why would anyone want to take their kids on a date with each other. I'm slightly agoriphobic means fear of people, places and crowds with me its people and crowds I don't know. I'm fine around people I know. I finally get to do things with my husband that we haven't been able to enjoy for a long time due to my illness. There is a lot of people like me out here and we get together online and offline with the smex part to us its not porn as we are very private. I dress how I want and stick to adult areas as to not offend any virtuious eyes. Do I belong in the adult rated areas not one bit do I belong in the mature areas yes I do. We are part of the mainstream. Will I allow my 17 yr old on here No I will not and he agrees with me. Disabled his teen account himself as a matter of fact. I may be 40 but I still remember what its like to be a kid I have a very good memory unfortinitly it doesn't include spelling. I have 4 boys one is on secondlife main grid but hes 19 no I don't hang with him but he hits me up for lindins when he needs them. We hang together in real life not on SL. I think a mute myself to all minors or a mute all minors feature would be welcomed by many.
  13. You misunderstand the question. The core question is, does Linden Lab intend to operate a pornography business? Regardless of whether or when the company realized that is how their platform was going to be used, what do they intend going forward? Putting underwear on default avatars is an indication that they do not want to continue to be seen as promoting pornography. Whether their customers want that or whether porn is where most of their money is coming from, indications are Linden Lab does not want Second Life to appear to be a porn site. And I can see why. Plenty of reasons have been presented in the blogs. There are risks and embarassments associated with it. They could be blackmailed. They could be sued. They probably do lose potential legitimate business and prestige because of it. They pretty much knew how their platform was going to be used if they didn't then they wouldn't of made this an 18+ service now would they. Also their Rep how people see them can't get any worse then it is now oh wait yes it could. When they bring the Teens in their reps are going to be 100 times worse then what it is now. There is no embarassments as to runing this service nor could they be blackmailed but let the teens in and there will be pleanty of both those things. They can be sued once the teens get in here anyone who has contacted an attorney can tell you as much. Business don't want to use this service because they have their own spaces to do so and many see no profit in it as there is none for them. Not the kind of profit they are used to anyway.
  14. on other sites that adults and minors are allowed on together there is one main difference and that is choice people know how old such and such is so they can either deny the chat IE not talk to them leave the area or anything else as the ages of all are prominitly displayed on their profiles and homepages for all to see they even have a clause in the TOS that states that if age is misreprensented in any way shape or form to appear younger or older that account will be deleted. So people then have a choice of talking or mixing with minors and minors have a choice on talking to adults or not. They even have filters to set their profiles to adult if needed. That is what we don't have here the choice, as no one will know what age is whome so everyone is going to be afraid to talk to everyone.
  15. Actually When I first joined SL there was no underwear on the default avatars other then clothing that I could remove however I did create an alt to check things out as a test alt before I age verrified her that is and yes there were underwear that was on the default avatar skin once I switched skins the underwear disappeared. So that leaves your question in the dust back when I joined it was 18+ and there was no indication it would be anything other then 18+. However I might point out that having underwear baked onto the avatars or on the base skins was one of the many suggestions that was made.
