  1. The statement should have been made the same week the original article came out. It's been allowed to fester for far too long.

  3. *nods and pretends to know what that all means*
  4. Looks like someone tripped over the extension leads again...
  5. They are in a lot of countries. The shop who has them has to have a license.
  6. 881Lord drops the mic and walks off stage... If a Gatya was done in RL it WOULD be regulated as gambling, no if's no but's.
  7. I am going to say one word which sum's up my feelings about this.. Good. Whenever I see a new release for an item and then TP to that place and find out its been stuck in a gambling machine that i need to keep throwing money at I just teleport out. I know a lot of people who have become addicted to these machines, throwing huge sums of cash at them cause they "have to get it all". It's a lucrative source of income for creators, yes, thats true, but these same creators were doing JUST FINE before the invention of these cachya's...and they will survive just fine after it.
  8. A look around Franks Jazz in Second Life. Basically, a replacement for the old Franks Place when it quickly closed down when the original owner of the sims left. This place opened very soon after.
  9. I've worked for several companies that got taken over by investment companies. What happens next falls into two categories depending on the path that the investment company follows. 1: Things run smoothly for a year or so, then the investment company starts asset stripping piece by piece. Not all at once (usually) but small pieces of the pie are stripped out and moved on to other companies they own. Before anyone knows it, whats left is an empty shell, the user base then collectively leaves, and that empty shell is closed, or then, ultimately sold off to another buyer. While that is going on, and about halfway through their plan, prices start to creep up, or new ways to milk the customer for money is brought in. They intend to get as much cash as they can while the asset stripping is going on to at least get some kind of return on the initial investment before the sell off starts. 2: The investment company...invests. They take a loss on the initial purchase, a loss on the initial investment but have a road plan to regain that investment back in 2 to 5 years. They hire in new staff to oversee and overhaul of the internal company structure, they hire in new I.T and new Dev's to oversee and undertake a complete and total independent and impartial inventory of the underlying structure of the company. They then target the weak points, or points which may in the future stop or slow down income stream...and they throw money and people at it to fix the problem. It is a long multistage plan, with the eventuality of the plan of making the company they invested into more profitable either by sheer growth of the user base, or an internal and external restructuring of the company and the services that company provides. THIS is the kind of investment company we can hope has taken over Linden Research, the type of company who are in it for the long haul. We will find out (probably by the beginning of next year) if the investment company who took over is path 1, or path 2. If they are path 1, we will all see it within 6 months as cash grabs as small asset stripping starts to take place. When you see that start to happen...leave or dramatically scale back. I know i will.

  11. Hi! From December 5th running until the twelfth night (Jan 5th, 2020) the New Babbage Winter Faire will take place on the new Blackberry Fields region north of the Academy of Industry. It will be a Steampunk based event with tents or temp wooden booths set up on the snow covered ground level, a marquee landing point on the hill at the back of the region looking down on the faire itself, and a skating area in the center. The region the fair is taking place on is part of the 12 region large City State of New Babbage, a Steampunk/Victorian city which has been on the grid for more than a decade. There will be between 40 to 60 tents and temporary stands set up on the region for creators and shops to sell their items laid out in two rings circling the skating area in the middle. Shops who have a main store, or satellite store within the confines of the City State of New Babbage can get a standard stall (or tent) for free, and will also be invited to take part in the New Babbage Winter Faire Hunt which will be a hunt solely based within the 12 regions of the city. The items for sale at the fair should of course be along two main themes. Steampunk and/or Victorian era. The majority of the items on sale at the stand have to be within the Steampunk or Victorian theme, because hey, the event is taking place in a Steampunk city. The event like the city is RP optional, however with the numbers of folks from outside New Babbage who will be visiting, the Faire itself will be a NON RP environment. For more information... visit.. https://cityofnewbabbage.net/events/new-babbage-winter-faire-2019/

If you are going to have Gatcha's out in your stall, limit it to only one as this is not a Gatcha event. Original items by you or your brand only (no resell vendors). Stall's must be finished by the evening of December 3rd, and taken down (at the end of the event) by the evening of Jan 7th FOR SPONSORS - If you wish to put down your own build for the faire it will need to fit within the sponsor tent footprint and the build will need to be in theme (steampunk/victorian). ===New Babbage Winter Faire Hunt=== New Babbage based shops wishing to take part in the Winter Faire hunt must have their hunt item out by the evening of December 2nd Item must be in the mesh hammer provided, Item can be an exclusive to the hunt if you wish, if not, it still has to be themed around New Babbage, or be Steampunk/Victorian or whimsical...cause we all love whimsical in the city.. Remember, if it all goes the way these seasonal events usually go, the hunt will bring a LOT of foot traffic into your store, so make sure your store vendors are up to date.
