  2. Hi there Cathy, thanks for the reply, appreciated. Have checked the bone/joint lengths on skeleton and all are 1-1-1 so that does not seem to be the issue. Still giving me fits.I am certainly missing something and have no idea what. As to why rigging? There are three reasons. Firstly I want to offer both types of fitting (as seems to be more and more customary). Secondly because it makes for a much more accurate fit to the Standard Avatar sizes, which this will work with and thirdly I want to conquer rigging :matte-motes-big-grin:
  3. Hi All Have been scratching my head for too many hours on this issue so have decided to ask those with more experience than myself. I am trying to rig a pair of shoes (including blender sock) to the Standard Avatar Skeleton.I am using Maya 2013. I am successful in binding the 4 parts of the shoe using smooth bind with the whole skeleton selected. Where I run into problems is weighting the shoe just to the mKnee joint. When I do this the shoe, on import to second life, is stretched vertically. Not by much but noticeably. It is absolutely fine if I bring it in weighted just to the mAnkle joint, but that causes the shoe to pivot on the ankle during walk. Can anyone help ?? Please!
  4. Curiouser and curiouser. On export from Maya 2012 (combined with 3 materials) the tri count for three cubes is 108. In Maya 2010 I get 72 tris for the same :matte-motes-big-grin-squint: Versions of FBX are likely different. Frustrating!
  5. Many thanks for your attention on this Drongle. Let me take a closer look at the exporter and the potential areas of issue and that you suggest and I will get back here.
  6. The pictured example of 108 tris was with the materials being added AFTER the combine. I have tried it the other way as well.. Apologies about the collada not sure what was up. It should work now. http://www.tribe25.net/cube_test/ Thanks
  7. Hi Drongle, the complete collada was at the link I gave. If I combine three cubes in maya into 1 with 1 material I would expect it to have 36 triangles. And if I bring them in as a group but not combined they ARE 36 tris. On combining I get 72 tris. This makes no sense as far as I inderstand it. It is one object with 36 tris...why would it suddenly become 72. And yes I am looking at the tris. 12 tris per cube x 3 cubes = 36. Combined it should be and states it to be in Maya 36 tris. But the SL upload dialogue states 72. So I am kinda bamboozled. Thanks for response
  8. Thanks for the reply Drongle, I understand what you are saying. I have created three cubes and added a lambert1 to two of them and a Lambert2 to the third. Should = 36 tris. Well they do, until I combine the three objects, when the tri count jumps to 72. Collada is here cube_test
  9. First let me apologise if this subject has been raised before. I have looked but could not find anything. Simply put : I am using Maya 2012 and if I import a Model of say 3000 Tris with ONE material all is well with the world. But IF I add a second material to the (combined or seperated) Model it imports with a whopping 6000 Tris (great fun). This multiplier continues as I increase the materials. Any ideas anyone? I am thinking that I am going to roll my eyes at myslef when I get the answer...but for now it is baking my noodle. I originally thought that it was just part of the SL experience :matte-motes-big-grin: : Anyway I hope someone can help. I am exporting using fbx:dae and other than the above issue everything is tickety boo! Thanks in advance Drift
  10. We are looking for a script that works with a multiprim/mesh objects to change texture and is able to resize the object. It also needs to have a facility whereby textures can be added to the original script on an update basis. This I believe would mean swapping out the script. There are multiple scripts on the marketplace that offer resize AND texture change but the update option eludes us. Contaact me for more details Many Thanks Driftwood Miles Tribe Islands
  11. I am looking for a script that is efficient....possibly with a script kill option. The script must not leave object crippled with tons of scripts. Linkest Resize and Texture Change working within the one menu. Hopefully someone can help. Many thanks
  12. Six!! Your a star. Managed to get it all up and running by renaming cache etc secondlife1 for main and reinstalled Beta and all was cool ) Much appreciated
