  1. This happens on parcels being set not to run scripts like others have pointed out. Yesterday I realized I had set the right to run scripts to group, so I changed that for now. It's annoying during the Trick and Treat event, even if it doesn't really mean much. I also found I needed to rerez my pumpkin yesterday. Grateful to all those that told me it wasn't working since there's no other way to know.
  2. There is a lot I like about Second Life of course. Why else would I have been here since 2007? One thing is particular that i value though is the fact that never ever have I bought something inworld and then found an add in my social media about it. That is something to value today when all our online activities are sold on to other companies.
  3. I find region crossings so much better than they used to be, I have stopped considering it a problem. I ride a horse in SL sometimes and I am impressed with how smooth it is crossing into a new region if I just adapt my speed a bit. I do need to stay aware of where the crossings are and avoid four sim crossings when I fly a plane, but other than that it's a nice experience as well. Maybe it's silly but I rather enjoy the fact that with some experience, we learn how to sneak into a region with many visitors without crashing. I imagine if you want to have a car race, you might have to coordinate the regions it passes through. And maybe set bounderies for how many scripted objects an avatar has active while racing.
  4. I don't breed anything from Bio Breeds so I don't know much. I sure feel for you. I found this article from February that mentions a place where you can get free food: http://slnewser.blogspot.com/2023/02/biobreeds-breedable-pets-shut-down.html. I hope that is still there.
  5. I think it is a good idea to spread the news about this phishing scam. And a clear warning never to fill in your password or any sensitive information in a box that looks like that. It's clearly a scripted box and very easy to recognize. Even if it was my mail box in my Linden Home, created by moles, that asked me for my password in a box like that I'd never enter it.
  6. I can miss old things in SL that awed me back then. Like Black Swan and the Greenies. But would I get all enthusiastic about them today? It's not just SL that changed. We are spoiled with awesome today. There are things I think of with fondness, but that wouldn't make me jump with joy if someone brought it back. Like shoes, or even hair, up the butt. Those gorillas banging on things on Wednesdays, and sometimes didn't stop banging for days so we had to keep checking when we could log in. Seems so sweet now but it wasn't then. And definitely wouldn't be accepted today. Our old avatars were easier to use and dress, but the look has improved too much to miss that except in nostalgic moments. (As an aside: The only thing I miss about the old clothes are flexi dresses.) I don't agree with the idea that SL has gotten ruder or less friendly. It's always been about who you happen to run into. In general my experience of SL residents today and in the past has been really good. You have to choose what communities to join. I think if I came back or joined today I would get a place in Bellisseria and join the community there. People come together with different SL experiences and the tone and behavior is really good.
  7. Much as I'd love to get all the bears it would be horribly unfair. I'm at 84 after having chased around for less than an hour a couple of days. Some has actually put in a lot of time. The argument that it is free to enter shows total contempt for their time and effort. I'm happy with the consolation bear. Cause I'm worth it
  8. For me it works the complete opposite. I use the weekend sales, where I get them neatly presented on the Seraphim website, to find good stores to shop from. My inventory is full of things I never would had found (and bought at full price), were it not for the weekend sales. And once I find a store with good content I often join the group and come back for more.
  9. I think LL doing instructional videos about how to use mesh bodies is a great idea. And while I think Maitreya is a good choice, for reasons others have mentioned already, I assume they will make more videos showing how to use other brands too. And several brands of heads and skins. If it was possible to make this kind of tutorial and actually teach a new user how to use any HUD to adjust any body, I think they would have done that. But I don't think you can. If you want to teach someone to use a to them new, rather complicated system, you need to be specific. And the idea that LL can't make instructional videos to help new users, because of business concerns is just like the complaints every time there is any development in SL: It ruins the market for someone. The usability of SL should come first for LL.
  10. I trust people to be nice and friendly until they aren't. One thing I've learned here, and I suppose in life in general, is that judging by the cover just doesn't work. I am a tad suspicious of people who pose as maffia or police, but that as well has proven to be both right and wrong so I just go along expecting the best from people. So far I've been fine. I actually find most people are quite polite in SL. We have a house next to a sandbox and get the occasional visitor, but not that often. Most ask permission to enter the house and say thank you when they leave. I've even accepted a promise once, working in our store, of payment later in the week from a total stranger that I felt was a nice person. And got it promtly as promised. Can't get good experiences like that unless you trust people
  11. I've found many creators on events on Seraphim. It means I go to the inworld or marketplace store to shop and pay full price. I think taking part in the events is a good way for creators that offer quality to reach new customers. It's not easy for us customers to find the good creators either.
  12. I like the new theme. Love the open plan and the large windows. I assume the environment will become more varied like it has with the other themes once they went live. I trust the moles to do their magic again. And different colors will definitely be nice. I would love to fill this with modern furniture. Definitely no clutter tho. Sadly I live by a way too lovely little lake in a Log Home and my partner loves it too. I'll never be able to convince him to swap it for this kind of place
  13. Slenderman at the awesum Hammieween party last week. In disguise but not totally unrecognizable
  14. I pay for a parcel and I pay for my membership to get a home at Bellisseria. I will never, no matter how much I read posts about it, understand this hysteria surrounding ownership in SL. Me and my partner even had three sims for a couple of years and the times I've faced bad behavior from visiting avatars can be counted on one hand. We banned griefers for a bit and told them they were welcome back in a couple of days when they had calmed down. Never had anyone come back and grief again. Our present mainland parcel is next to a sandbox and sometimes someone wanders in to look around. Always polite and friendly. We have a private platform up in the air, and if someone is curious enough I suppose I wouldn't exactly enjoy it, but I find that so much easier to live with than the ban lines and orbs. And the hysteria: "It's MINE!! Don't touch it! Dont' look at it!!" I realize there is absolutely nothing I can do about it except rant a bit. It's not horrible, just so very much not nice. What is it that makes people buy a place just for the pleasure of claiming it is theirs? Even several 1000 meters of the air above their land. I kinda imagine them with high hedges, angry dogs and windows always covered with blinds RL.
  15. Find another place to rent and make sure to ask the owner/manager about the way they count prims before you pay. I've rented a couple of times for fun even tho we have homes of our own and never come across a place that counts prims the way your current landlord does.
