Linden lab will only file a 1029 reporting your income for US citizens based on your gross process credit transactions for the year. this is the amount you remove from tilia to Paypal or Skrill. (new rules are set for $600 or more income) So, if you have $1,000 sitting in your Tilia account, unless it is transferred out of that financial institution it wont be considered income. there are essentially two ways to remove funds from tilia. through Paypal/Skrill transfers OR paying recurring fees in sl through your Tilia account. (Premium account fees may be included in this now, not sure). For tax purposes this creates an interesting dilemna, your funds sitting in Tilia are not taxed as income, however as a business person in SL you may be paying real usd from your Tilia account to linden lab for tier AND local taxes for their service. My question still is unanswered. Can I take a Tilia receipt for usd spent on tier and claim a business deduction? Without claiming income into Tilia?

As many merchants have land in sl paid for by their Tilia accounts, Im wondering if a Tilia payment for this can be used as a tax deduction for a small business. We have a record of these payments in US$ in our second life accounts that could be provided on tax forms. If you make tier payments through paypal that can certainly be used as a deduction. Anybody have experience with Tilia payments?

I have two full private island 20Kprim sims for rent. One beginning March 5th and the other one March 18. for 56,999 lindens each per month. so who files the 1099 in 2022 with the new $600 reporting level? tilia or paypal? or worst case scenario both of them.

Linden Lab converts my Linden earnings intoUS dollars to pay for tier. In my case it’s over US$10,000 a year. This is all business expense nothing for personal. Because this is paid in US dollars shouldn’t I be able to deduct this as a business expense? I believe Europeans must pay VAT taxes on payments to Linden Lab for tier. So it looks to me like Linden Lab considers tier payments taxable. Or deductions.

Linden Lab will not comment on tax issues. The requirement I wrote above is minimum requirements for Linden Lab to issue a 1099.

The former limits were $20,000 income and 200 transactions.‘s. So practically nobody would ever get a 1099 from Second Life. A transaction being defined as Tilia funds being deposited in your PayPal bank account. So my question is will the funds being converted by Tilia into US dollars to pay Linden Lab tier be considered income and expense as taxable

Oz, the problem here for me is that content I've been selling for years is now BROKEN in sl for the most part. I'll have a year of customers complaining about crappy products and redelivering fixed products to them. I can convert the non working formats into .mov files and reconfigure my products inworld. But having this change in sl causes a very big hardship for me and I suspect other video products sold in sl. ps. just learned the customer who complained videos not working was on an older mac os.

It will also not work in sl viewer or firefox even though it has worked consistently in sl for a couple of years. Not sure about customers platform, will check it. Also, I will offer the video url to some pc users to try out.

Hi whirly, both of your mp4 andm4v files work just fine. the mystery is why arent the files Ive been using in sl for years NOT working now in both firestorm and sl viewer? I was alerted to this problem by a customer who owns a skybox that uses my video files and no longer works. just became aware that several video formats no longer work in sl. m4v and mp4 formats no longer work. In my testing, seems like only the .mov format is the only one currently working. I guess they weren't licensing the decoders properly. who knows . this breaks a lot of content I have had inworld for some time now.
