id like to at least try o make something

hopefully wont need a hard to use and confusing program to do so

maybe if its fun and easy ish i might try making character mods for other games like skyrim

but this game seems dated enough that it might be simple to make an item or two for

so hows it done ?

Don't be fooled by your understanding of "game" (because Second Life isn't intented to be a game and doesn't work like your average game at all). Of course, the software was created over 10 years ago, but why does that mean its supposed to be super easy? Because...that would mean flying an aircraft from WW2 would be super easy and manageable without training too, because its old.

And compareing it to Skyrim...well I'm not familiar with modding in Skyrim, but its a game thats 1.) offline singleplayer 2.) entirely made by professionals. Second Life is an online environment and all content is made by random people, who are not always professionals...that SL has to reload everything constantly because of its nature of a changeable environment is just an additional burden.

But well, lets come to your original question....

What you consider easy will depend on two things: Your skills and what you are planning to do. So what do you want to make? Textures? Scripts? Animations? Objects (prim, sculpt, mesh)?

Depends on what you want to create... Syo already mentioned most of the basic creation avenues, but several of them have different ramifications depending on what end product you make them for, plus there's interactions between most of those -which means most times you need to have at least an essential understanding of all the others besides the one you'll choose to specialize in.

Given the scope of all your questions so far at these forums, I'd suggest visiting this place. You'll learn the answer to all of those questions and many more.

thinking cat ears and possibly shorter than 90 cm shape

im not exactly artistic so hopefully both of these are easy pull off cuz ones just two triangles on a circleular shape and other just scaled down versions of already existing models ?

The simplest way to create in world is to just build using the built in tools, and find or create some textures to use on what you build. You can also make things like your own gestures in world fairly easily. DO keep in mind that in order to upload your textures, or sounds or animations to Second Life you will need to have some L$. Each upload costs money.

I suggest spending sometime getting used to the world, and exploring the building tools available in the software before branching out. It really helps to have a good understanding of what SL is before you dive in.

I recomend joining a building help group like Happy Hippsters or Builders Brewery.  You can get free textures & scripts, take building classes, & ask for help in the chat groups.

Second Life is a very diverse & complicated platform, so you can keep learing more, finding more places to explore, & realizing new things you can do. It often seems overly difficult & confusing at first, but if you get a little help from others, you'll see it ofters wonderous possibilities.
