Furniture Shopping

I just bought my first SL house! It came fully furnished, but I'd like to refurnish it a bit. The problem is, I don't really know where to go for good furniture. I'm searching the marketplace like mad, and I'm just not sure what's good and what's not. Plus, naturally not everything is on the marketplace. So I'm appealing to the knowledgable forum gurus - where can I find good furniture?

Some specifics - I'm looking for living room/sitting room furniture, bedroom furniture, and bathroom furniture. I'd like for most, if not all, of it to have adult animations, couples animations, cuddles, and definitely good solo animations since I'll probably just chill at home on my own rather frequently. My house is very beachy, so I'd like some beach-style, maybe tiki-ish furniture, or at least somethign that wouldn't look out of place in such a house. Good quality animations, of course. I'd also like not to have random poseballs rez any more than necessary; my current furniture often leaves me sitting next to a blue poseball when I sit on the pink, with no way to hide it, even though I'm using a solo animation. I'd rather not spend more than $1,000-$2,000L on any one furniture set, and of course less expensive is better as long as the animations and texturing, etc., are still good quality.

So, is anyone possibly able to help point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

Have you searched the marketplace for "tiki furniture"?  Or beach furniture? I know there are places that specialize in beachy furniture but I don't think the forums are the place to start recommending specific stores. This post would seem to belong in the "wanted" category in any case.

Thanks, I'll toss it over there ^_^ I wasn't quite sure where to stick this, since I though "wanted" was a little more oriented towards custom stuff, but I'll give it a shot and see what happens. Thanks again!

I like to search for a particular item on the marketplace and then go to the in-world store so I can try sitting on the furniture to see how it works for me. You probably want to figure out your prim allowance for furniture and keep an eye on the prim count of things you want to buy.

I am very happy with Headhunter's Island. While the majority of their stuff is more suited for the outdoors, I think a set like this could work well inside too. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Headhunter-PACIFIC-DREAM-bean-bag-furniture-set-tiki-tropical-o...

What others have said about prim counts, beware! You can take back to your inventory one or two of the fruit baskets here, it is decorative items that use up your prim count fast. I am not sure how fast mesh furniture will come, I think it's possible that they will be lower in prims.

My opinion is, a designer should always try to enhance the inworld experience for the customers. In a virtual world, where individuality is hard to obtain, selling modifiable items is like selling a bit of freedom. Think about that.

I just want to add, I am not sure agout the animations. I had search on general. The best is to go to the store inworld and try it with your love :smileywink:

For beds, I have the TNT s*x engine. That is basically a flat, transparent prim that you place over any bed you want. This contains all the adult animations, and you can change furniture style as often as you wish, and also buy cheap beds with only sleeping animations. I have not used it in a year, I am not sure if others have adapted the idea. Maybe it is newer and better ones out now. It was a very big menu, search for TNTon the Marketplace  with Adult on, and you will find it. Basic knowledge about how to move prims is required when you place it over your bed.

If you want adult animations you can try: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/4629, I'm one of the staff there.

Most beds have a choice of frames within the menu so you can change the style. Besides beds there's outdoor furniture, bathrooms, spa's and living room furniture. We have a very wide selection of menus for couples, girls, guys and groups.

There's several sims so we try to have staff around 24/7, all you have to do id find a green questionmark and click it to get help or advise.

Not all out items are on marketplace so check out the store :smileyhappy:

Thanks to everyone! JJLanes is the one I found last night, searching inworld for beach furniture, and is my favorite so far. So pricey! But it's lovely.

Thanks again for the help!

You might try a couple of places.  There is a great store called Cedar Bay,  and a place called "the Naughty Victorian"  All very good furniture, and very realistic looking!
