how do I stop the official viewer from stealing focus?

viewer 3.xxxx causes my mouse to jump into group chat when I am trying to type into local and vice versa. How do I stop that from happening?

If you are using the current V3 viewer -- the one that includes the CHUI upgrade -- you'll probably get the best answer by watching

all the way through.  CHUI has a lot of options, but they will take a little practice to get used to.  If you haven't upgraded yet, you might as well go ahead anyway.  You'll have a couple of weeks before Linden Lab releases the next big upgrade, so that will give you some time to get used to CHUI first.

Go to "Preferences" - "Chat" and tune the settings for each type of notification. I have my Group Chat set to "Pop up the message" and my Local Chat to "None" and they don't yoink focus from each other. I think the culprit is "Open Communications Window" - I have my personal IM's set to do that and I had one yoink focus from my local chat yesterday.
