Question

I've been unable to use voice chat on any viewer. They are not detecting my laptop's built-in mic. My mic works on everything but Second Life. I have went to the preferences and enable voice, the volume is on, there are no green blocks in the volume test, and avi's do not have the voice dots above them. I've tried plugging in an external mic. I've gone through my firewall and opened all the recommended ports myself. Still no results.

Specs:

Computer - Acer Aspire 5253 running Windows 7

Viewers used - Phoenix Firestorm-Preview , Secondlife Viewer 2, and also Phoenix

Antivirus Software - McAfee Plus

Anything else... Just ask....

[EDIT]  I've gone through the Voice chat FAQ and have done/tried everything it suggested and mentioned. I've also gone to voice echo canyon and I still have the same problem. I've also gone to http://myspeed.visualware.com/indexvoip.php and ran a VoIP test and it passed close to flawless.

Also TP to Voice Echo Canyon There checking is easier.

For Phoenix you can try Phoenix Support, Phoenix Viewer Wiki Voice Related

Good luck and let us know if you need more help.

The same thing is going on with me, I own a toshiba satellite and it is windows 7. Any viewer I use voice isn't working and I'm trying everything to get it going. I can't hear people talk to me and I can't talk to them, I can't even see the little white dot over people's head. People tell me they can't even see the white dot over my avatar's head either. It's getting so fustrating and I am trying my best to find a way to get this going. I can voice on everything else except Secondlife which is ridiculous. My old laptop I could voice on secondlife with no problems at all, it was a Sony windows XP and now I am assuming that some laptops with Windows 7 doesn't work so well with voicing on secondlife. I suppose it's a technical thing secondlife needs to improve? If anyone knows please give me an answer.
