Question

Do I understand correctly that the only way to post a snapshot to your feed is with the snapshot control at the time you save the snapshot? I ask because I saved snapshots to disk to edit and choose the best shots, but there's no way to upload them to the feed? They can only be uploaded as textures, yet there's still no way to show them in the feed.

Yes, you're correct.

The Feed was only added recently (as part of the 'more social' web profiles), and abandoned before completion. It's not designed to be used both forwards and backwards, and it's not ideal for use as a storage medium. It's more like a quick 'share' button that shows in public.

In addition to Freya's reply, there is a turnaround to your problem. You can rez a flat prim inworld, load your saved picture as a texture and apply it on the object (which you may have to redimension to the picture's correct proportions). Zoom on it adjusting your camera the best you can then take a snapshot and post it to your feed. ;)
