How do I upload a animated picture to profile

I am trying to upload a .gif picture to my profile. Can someone help me please

SL does not support GIF's.  You have to use a alpha texture with rows and columns of frames.  A script plays the frames in the order and rate you specify in the script to produce the animation.  If you have a GIF there are several web sites that will change it to an acceptable format for SL and even a script that will do it in GIMP. 

Because animated textures must use a script, you can't put one in your SL profile.  It has to be placed inside a prim with the appropriate script.
