If it's Mainland, try to sell it.  If you can't sell it, Abandon it...just stand on the land, right click the ground, choose About Land and select Abandon.

If it's a private estate...

Transferring or canceling an estate

It is possible to transfer an estate by transferring all Private Regions in the estate to another Resident. For details on transferring Private Regions, see the Managing Private Regions.

If you would like to terminate ownership of an estate without transferring it, please submit a support case of the type Land & Region > Region Cancellation Request, with all the relevant fields completed.

Tony, your options are:

1) Sell it on the used Region Market, this way you walk away with some cash. Make sure you sell it only to buyers with Extended Support - These are people that currently own 6 or more regions. These transactions can complete in 24 hours as opposed to 5 - 10 business days.

You can use the Forums in SL Answers to post the for sale notice and/or look for one of the Full Region Selling Groups and join it. Do this NOW.

Price it to move and you'll still get some $$ back after discounting for the $100 USD transfer fee.

You can do this even if your next tier payment is only a week away. This will lessen the value of the Region for the buyer since they will incur another full tie payment earlier than later.

2) If you don't want to bother with this, get on with your concierge support and inform them you with to abandon your Full Region. The follow up and Submit a Support Case using the Land & Region option Region Cancellation Request.
