I assume it means the inventory items is transferred using the HTTP protocol as opposed to what has been used up to now (I don't know which protocol has been used for this). Somewhat the same as what has been done with textures, I figure, which are now transferred (some of them anyway) by http, unless http textures are turned off.

It is supposed to be faster and more reliable than the other methods used for transfer. From what I've seen since this was introduced, http inventory works very well. Things load faster than before, and I haven't noticed anything wrong with it yet.

There are most likely technical aspects about this I don't know or understand, but i think I got the gist of it right.

It's funny, now that you mention that the inventory loads remarkably fast. I didn't actually notice at first. But when I saw the menu item I started to notice the increase in loading speed. Then I thought that I often don't notice when things starts to work better - like the inventory loading faster, less failed tp's, textures rezzing quicker, and so on - but if things go the other way I notice straight away. Don't know of others do the same, or if it is just me. :) Oh well, it's not important. Just a sidenote of sorts....

Its not just you Luc, Its human nature. The forums and questions arent filled with people praising how great everything is working and no one ever storms the capital to tell the government how wonderfully its managing its citizens. :)

When things work well we are happy and are happy in silence, when something irks us or is off putting, we let others know. Think of babies.

Another side note. :)
